I'm having a hard time figuring out how to heat my grow room this winter. The grow room is a mobile home and the power to that mobile home is run off the house. Power bills are already expensive in the winter using a heat pump adding another heater plus all my lights is gonna really spike it. If I get a electric heater it needs to be low wattage. I thought about propane but I'm lost on what to do. I would like to have a heater where I can set the temp and and cut on and off like my AC. The room is about 11 1/2 x 7. Just need to heat that space. Any suggestions guys? I don't wanna take a 3 month break! :peace:

Last winter it was full of junk for storage, not sure how cold it got in the actual room. It can sure use more insulation for sure.
Using a 600w HPS has crossed my mind. Do you mean turning the bulb on and off? Not really a fan of that but after you mention that, what about a 600 or 1k watt on a CAP that controls the temp with inline fan?

I'm still of the opinion that you should put a small heater in the tent and another one in the room that you can turn on when you're out there working. Would cost less than trying to keep the whole room warm all winter.

Thanks guys. If I put a heater inside the tent I would loose grow space, wouldn't that be a little dangerous? It might melt my bags haha.
@TBM Wouldnt that be hard on the bulb and shorten it's life?

OK, yeah I was just wondering if that would wear out the gear. Yeah I would say it can get that low and lower, we get down in the teens some thru the winter and the mobile home is old, insulation sucks.

Actually scratch my suggestion - after thinking about it a bit more - having the light turn when it gets cold in the room sounds like a good idea but it wouldn't take long for the room to warm up enough to switch it off. All that switching on/off is going to wear out the bulb & ballast.
hmmm let me ponder some more
What about a CO2 generator? It'll act as a heater too.

It's hard to really recommend without knowing just how warm you need to keep it.
Do you think the temps get down into the freezing range?

Never looked into co2 generator. I would like to keep the heating budget at $500 or less.

imwithmuddyonthis... they even make a 100 watt heater that screws in a lightbulb socket... probably wouldnt takemuchmore than that for such a small space

I have that reflectix stuff on and around my window AC. That would a good idea to do the whole room. Hey yeah your right about that controller sorry I'm stoned. I wouldnt want it to get too hot or cold just so the plants are happy.

@JM Thanks I will check those out never heard of them before.

If you don't want a heater in the tent, then I go back to my original idea, a mini split heat pump. Ditch the window A/C unit as the mini split will supply both heat and A/C. If you look around you can find a 9,000 BTU one for around $500.
