HBSS in EarthBoxes progressive lightening of newer leaves.

Checked cal on pen and it’s still spot on.
Checked the rainwater and it's still 7.0
Suctioned rez and it was 6.6.
Moisture/ph probe showed 6.6 mid-media and 6.5 at the bottom.

I was kinda hoping to see something. At least it would be an answer.

Current tent: Anyone see any problems with Kong or Stomper....other than needing water......at first light on in 6 hrs

@WildBill I'm just taking shots in the dark but given your last post my next guess might be....overwatering? I mean, pH and all that being spot-on, not seeing a huge nitrogen surplus in your mix...those symptoms might just be wet feet. Thoughts?

Not likely in EBs and this media. EBs are supposed to keep moisture levels optimal. That's their claim to fame.
Moisture/pH probe showed the moisture level to be more dry/less wet at the very bottom. I was surprised it wasn't further in the wet range at the bottom.

What are things looking like under the cover? I think the only microbe life that you mentioned was bokashi. If it was top dressed and left in place, it should be looking like mold or webbing on the soil surface by now if it's working correctly. I think the soil may be low on micro life, which is what keeps fresh nutrients cycling. Maybe a compost tea or a shot of recharge/great white will kick the soil back to life. The plant looks like it's starting to require more nutrients than what's available.

Hey @Waira wat are your thoughts on this you are very good with diagnosis

When I filled the EBs, I packed plain Root OG in the wicking spots, added a layer of amended media from the tote it was cooked in, sprayed with mild compost tea with Recharge and repeated until full. Nowhere near saturation, mainly for re-inoculation.

After the application of the bokoshi, there was the beginning of a mat developing. After a few days after checking the mat, I touched the cover and noticed how warm it was. I had the black side outwards and it absorbed the heat. I checked underneath, the soil temps were warmer, not hot, but warmer than what I wanted. No mat at all. I assume the heat killed it.

There should be plenty of bioactivity. Now is it the right activity? I think so. If there had been any huge quick general die off and bad bugs take over, there'd be a decrease in the media pH................but the dolomite would mediate that.

I think it just might be a good thing to "reset" things with a shot of recharge. I'm good with not running any bokoshi further in this run to KISS things up a bit./ I think if I do that, I'll leave off the cover for a few days. I kinda don't like the area more open to getting bugs, but I think it might be best to bring the media back to optimal moisture level as soon as possible.

It's just very possible that once I turned the lights back up full after a period of fully dim, with the lights at full power and the VPD right at 0.98-1.01kPa, the HBSS blew up and out. With that rate of uptake, high rate of growth and periods of pretty high ppfd, could that have over taxed the roots where they couldn't supply the plants with the nutrients it was requiring. The growth was crazy from hour to hour. I could see the difference.

From another conversation, Another train of thought is toxicity of too much nutrients being released. That could very well be the case.

My thoughts:
I can't figure out what could be too much. I was kinda hoping the pH was off so I could understand something being tied up or released. The last top dressing can't be responsible for anything with not enough time for it to be close to being available.

Could it be the dolomite recommendation from EB? That's the only difference in the base media from the 7gal pots and the EBs. Only difference in top dressings is pretty much the bokoshi. Is it possible the first application of bokoshi released/made available?

Looks like the start of a defiency to me.cnt tell what yet to early.but cranking the light up ,would have no effect but good to an already established healthy plant.hope this helps.happy growing every1;)
