Extraction Hash. Tips, pics and whatever.

Just went to get the pics.... Gave it a run yesterday. Used just over 2oz, 65g of ground up bud material, and I didn't measure the dry ice, just scooped in enough to cover everything.

65g in and 4.5g out with the 73µ bag.

I tried rolling it into a ball after pressing/hot water bottle and several folds. No luck. Just dry and crumbly. Not sure where I went wrong but ah, first time not to go perfectly is expected.
I would guess looking in a microscope would tell you how much contaminant. I do more pressing than hash but stuff that is dry to start might look completely different in two weeks or a month later.

Looks kinda green. A lot of plant matter will keep it from sticking together. You can try static tek to try and clean it up

I've done the hot water bottle thing before and it took forever to get it to ball up

That first shake works best. You can easily test by taking a small amount, just a good pinch. and squish it in your fingers or palm and try to make a small ball. When it's quality stuff, in a minute or two, you have a nice sticky black ball of goodness. You'll know you can easily make a nice temple ball with the hot wine bottle method.
 
1st Hash Run: 260g Fresh Frozen
Here's some pictures of my first time making hash, using the fresh frozen larf of my first harvested plant Strawberry nuggetsxPinkPanama (about 40% of total plant). I did three washes on it (hand washing) 5 minutes, 7 minutes, and 10 mintues.

Hello all - so this week I went on a hunt for hash and as always the hippies came good - I got a nice slab of moroccan export grade, but better than normal, very pliable, nice aroma etc...

Anyway, I thought I would press some to see what comes out. I use a 4 ton Devil Press, good kit but bastardly over priced, and as I am not handy in any way buying always trumps DIY for me.
Didn't weigh what went in or out as I dont have scales for that.
Temps - 155 for 30 seconds, using about 1/2 to a 1/3 of pressure available - I was pleasantly surprised at what came out.

I use a stone Pizza oven thing as the tray to collect on, a few minutes in teh freezer and it comes out cold and stays cold for a nice easy scrape up.

I only had a 70 micron bag so I want to try it again with a much smaller mesh size.

After a short while the shatter turned to a blob, lathered it over a rizla paper and rolled a small dooby, lordy lordy - it is what the hash they keep in Morocco tastes like which sort of makes sense - I really nice black hash (dry sift) smell.

First of the year, I'm running that Asian Haze I had grown outdoors last year. Iy made some really nice hash. That first run dry ice hash was so easy to hot water bottle into a very dark kinda like a warm Tootsie Roll. I just made shiny temple balls outta it. I still have two 20g balls left, right at a year old. I cracked another one at around 6-7 months. So damn good!
They're sitting in the middle of my chest of drawers under t-shirts.
I labeled it. "Break In The Case of an Emergency!":eyebrows::biggrin:
I smoked a bit of my lower quality brick hash a bit ago. The temple balls were whispering to me and ALL I could hear is a 70's Doral cig commercial, "Taste Me! Taste Me!":rofl::rofl:
