Haven't tried it myself, but most of what I've read suggests that you're really just kind of stunting yourself by doing so. The stuff I've read suggests that since the plant won't flower until it reaches sexual maturity after two or three weeks (on average...most strains), regardless of the light cycle, you're really just depriving it of an extra several hours of light per day it could be using to produce photosynthetic energy for growth.

The plant still has to be mature enough to flower. So all 12/12 does from seed to flower is take away a proper veg after the plant matures enough to show sex. So you still get the same results same plant just yield caries due to the lack of veg

I did this with a Dinafem Blue Widow years ago. It does work, but I believe I only pulled about an ounce from that plant. For reference, I routinely pulled 4-5 zips from the same strain, after a month of veg time.
Unlike an auto, a photo period plant forced to bloom from day one will never get very big, and only recieves half the light over its entire life that an auto gets at 24/0. I'm not a horticulture expert in any way, but I "think" that's a major factor as to why 12/12 from seed isn't done more often.
Wasn't worth it for me, I probably won't do it again.

Agreed...i think the only way to really benefit from it, is doing a stacked Sea of Green style of grow. Just enough space provided per plant and the quick turnover make it a decent technique for seed 12/12 grows

I've read of plenty of people see of green type grows with clones that they put on 12/12 cycles as soon as they've rooted. Lots of 'em packed in close type setups. Not so much from seed, though.

When i really learned to grow that how i learned....Stacked SoG style clone grows were really hot!! And my, oh my did they produce for me!! But far too many plants needed to get the job done with todays laws. I also did a few 12/12 seed grows in 6"pots. It was effective, but of course there is lots of variance in size and width so thats an additional challenge(same with auto SoG style grows)

Good points. I should amend my first post, there is one other scenario where 12/12 from seed would be worthwhile. A tiny cabinet grow, when you really want a particular strain, but just don't have the room for a big plant.
I ran Dinafem Critical Jack for quite a while in hydro. That was a monster of a plant, that I just couldn't have grown in a tiny space. 12/12 from seed might have been the only way to grow that strain in a small cabinet. ( Great strain, btw. Well worth growing, just an awesome happy, motivated, turn up the stereo and get stuff done weed)

Have to keep critical jack in mind for a future grow!! Totally agree about a cabinet grow having a use for 12/12's
