New Grower Happy to be here!

Oh, no. Is she ok? :(
Not sure.

She's a tough old bird, but she went in for an infection and now has other issues.

My mum died in October and I was shocked at how accurately they predict death in old people, then I read about the stages of dying, which is what allows them to be so accurate.

That information can't be unread, I can see Jesse (I'll use her real name out of respect) showing the signs of some of these stages.

Please don't Google it, even out of curiosity. It makes you look at Ill relatives completely differently.

I'm so sorry to hear, itisyou. :( *big hug*

Life can be rude that way. I lost my dad to cancer a couple of years ago, actually, June 14th will be the second anniversary. I don't think I'd like to know either. But 98 is a pretty good life, right?

A very good life.

My dad went 3 years ago.

It was barbaric.

They have this thing over here called 'the Liverpool care pathway'.

Basically, if they deem a patient will not survive, they ask permission from the family to implement the lcp which is basically the withdrawal of all treatment except pain relief. Morphine. Lots and lots of morphine.

It took 5 days. The death certificate said pneumonia. He died of dehydration.

I have since learned the government offers some sort of incentive to health services using lcp.

Yep, you read that correctly. The uk government pays the NHS to kill old people!

That's sad. Mine went through all the chemo and was 100% cancer free, caught a cold and died of pneumonia within a week, 10 days after the all clear results.

We were worried throughout the treatment. Once we got the results, we finally relaxed, then he died all of a sudden. And with him being in Brazil, I couldn't be with him. :(

We'd smoke weed together over the phone every day, the only thing that made the nausea go away. I guess growing now I feel so close to him, it's something he always wanted to do...

It was a massive stroke that put my dad in hospital, he was in a coma.

My mum had been dodging the reaper for years! It was a relief in the end, she had no quality of life.

Sometimes it's the best thing that can happen. It's just hard for the ones who stay behind, I still miss him a lot. And I'm glad mom finally decided to move here with me.

Change the subject! I'm gonna end up with my legs dangling out the loft at this rate!

Today Itisher has me steam cleaning the kitchen.
