Grow Mediums Hans’ Autopot Grow and Show – Gorilla Glue / Red Poison

10-14 days flushing?

Does that not starve them? I just lower the EC a bit for a couple of days on my hydro girls. Dunno about coco though....I guess that retains some of the nutes so that like soil you aren't totally starving them even when flushing?

Science says, flushing is damaging to your plants and a waste of time. But so many people have heard the myth that it is hard to dislodge this faulty information. On this subject, I've literally been told: " I don't care what science says, I know it works"......

Late to the party. Subbed for the finish. Great work as per usual Hans
Hey bro good to see ya, thanks for dropping in... You're just in time for the best part anyway ;)

I don't think pre-harvest flushing is just a myth... The vast majority of people who have done flushing vs. not flushing comparisons will say the flushed buds are smoother and have better taste. Also pretty much every mineral based nutrients will have final flush phase in their feed schedule... The Autopot guide says to run plain water for last 10-14 days as well... So I'll stick to flushing my plants and wouldn't recommend to anyone not to unless it's an organic grow.

yes Hans, that's the speil they all give you, but they are all wrong. You can't remove anything from a plant that has gone into it. Look into the biology, you'll see.You can starve it to death, which is what a long flush does, and unless you continue until the buds are dead too, guess what's still in those "flushed" buds? The dying plant transports as much nutrient to the buds as it can. I've even starved a budded plant to death and it took almost 6 weeks.

And I've got $100 that says no one can tell the difference between "flushed" bud and unflushed bud that has been cured the same way for both. I'm 20-0 in that challenge so far...

Like @pop22, I would like to see the science behind flushing, it's certainly not on the web. Given that the advise from Autopot is generally suspect and probably errs to the side of absolute safety rather than absolute growability to avoid having newbies appearing in public with miserable tales, I don't pay any attention to it..... Lol

Ditto. Well maybe not 20-0 but at least a few-0:smoking:

FWIW my EC meter suggests there's not much nutrient uptake at the end anyway. Can't remember when my RP appeared to stop eating but the Dr Feelgood I just harvested didn't shift the EC for at least a week so I guess the reality of flushing might be something along the lines of trying to starve something that is on hunger strike anyway.

I've been having fun with coco in auto pots, but I feel its time to get back to my organics. I've got some ideas I want to try using auto pots and organic soil. That, I feel, is the ultimate auto pot grow: Just add water!
