I went out to the farmer's house last week spent about 12 hours out there trimming. From 6:30 in the morning to about 10:30 11:00. It was hot as hell. But I trim his girl's all up to his specs. Which is quite the Shaving on these girls. I Also push them up through these cylinder type cages that he had made years ago for the outside grow. For the most part most of the girls were pretty flexible and I didn't have too much problem pushing the branches up through these cages.
But I did have one of them that gave me quite a bit of problems... I'm not sure why it was so brittle. As the other girl's that were sister clones all of the wedding cake. This one was just extra brittle for some reason. No matter the size of the branch it did not want to manipulate or bend very easily. I snapped three out of probably 12 branches... Ugh... This is not good for me to do cuz snapping branches on this particular plant did not heal up so well as other plants did. It's a curiosity? I don't understand why this plant is so brittle. I think that he gave this plant more of some type of mineral than the other plants??? I don't know? I just don't know?
He's only running wedding cake and sherb cake outside this year.. He doesn't have a large variety there's a couple other plants out there. 2 of the mg 25s or modified grape 25.
I've not had too much to do with this grow other than just trimming it. But normally I would have been out there more and been more involved with this grow but after being clunked in the head with a tree branch I really didn't do a lot with the grow this year.
I don't think he's doing all that well this year as what he did last year and the year before that was even better..??
So I think that he needs to rejuvenate the soil. He didn't do that last year as I told him to do so.???
You know you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink.
... Roger that....
Another thing he's done that I don't think is a good thing is he Doug a moat like around all the plants about 7 or 8 in deep and probably about 5 ft 6 ft across and then the plants like in a hill in the middle. So his reasoning for this was is that he thinks that the roots will go deeper to look for the nutrients cuz the water's Down Deeper. Sure maybe that would work if things were seed plants I told him. But because they're clones their Roots don't go that deep and that they're missing out on the nutrients that he's trying to give them. He didn't quite understand the concept of that. Again just right back to the old horse thing. I've explained that he's hard-headed and he comes around to my philosophy on his own he doesn't see it at first whatever it is what it is right. I just collect my money and go upon my way.
So anyways this is going to be a rundown of pictures before and after pics of his garden and my work.
24 girl's Before trimming.
Note the ground around all the bottoms of the plants. He's watering with ground water, and that's fine but it's very cold. And of course we all know cold water doesn't do microbes any good. Has microbes are very sensitive to warm and cold and toxicities. They die very easily.
continue the rest of these plants in the next post.
