Indoor Growing Scrog

My notes from 420's posts: 'Super cropping at around 7 days after appearance of pre-pistils'.
I don't see any pistils yet, so I have a little time to relax ... before the fateful day. :rolleyes1:
Honestly, I live in fear of my first go at super cropping. 🙂
Not long now, she'll be throwing them out soon ;)

It looks scary but you will learn soon enough that the plants love a little rough treatment from time to time, as long as you take your time and soften stems befpre bending then you should not have to worry about snaps or severed branches. They bounce back so quick youll wonder why you were ever scared in the first place.

I super crop almost every plant, but I've never tried it that far down on the stem.My plan is to soften about a 3/4-1 inch section(youtube tip) on the stem to lesson the chance of it snapping.(hopefully).Hockey tape and wire will be standing by lol. What hand tool do you plan on using?
I'm about 15-20 days behind you.Good luck.

Use pliers, take some of that hockey tape to pad the jaws so you dont rip the stems up and voila! Your very own custom super-croppers!

Honestly don't worry about DLI etc, we're running lights 24/7. The DLI sort of becomes irrelevant as it's just full blast, max level, from day 1 till finish. Providing you know what light burn looks like, you're good to go.

You want nice tight node spacing, which creates plenty of bud sites on the side branching. ;)

Only possible downside is too much PPFD when the plants are young, and they don't stem out enough to be useful.
Has happened to me more than once, my Dutch Passion Auto my current example below, at 36 days.
Her main stem is almost 3/4" thick at the base, and her branches are thick and woody too ... but everything is very short.
My guess, and all I can do is guess, is that young plants need a certain amount of PPFD, but not too much, to encourage them to stretch their stems somewhat. Again, I'm guessing. Also, for those of us who live in hot/humid climates, running the lights at full power is a significant issue. Tent heat is difficult to control, and keeping the grow room cool enough requires keeping the rest of the house much cooler than necessary ... and the electric bills ... yikes. 🙂

Day 32. EC nudged up to 1.25. pH 6.0. 180 watts in use, 24/7. PPFD ~850-400, DLI ~65-35, top, sides.
Temporary net to get light to lower areas, will cut it away if necessary when it's time to flatten and
install the final net. Only two inner fan leaves removed. ( She might be a challenge to fit the 24" tent dimension. 😲 )
