Hey guys and gals, so I don't know if the rest of the world has found out but our Constitutional Court ruled that it is now legal to grow and use Cannabis for personal use.

So now that it's legal, I'd like to start growing a couple of auto's. I have always wanted to grow my own as the local stuff is really dodgy. The cheap stuff can be toxic. One guy crushes up glass and adds it to the bank bag to make it look like the weed has more 'crystals'. We refer to that weed as "Eddie Swaz" as its a bad Swazi thats sold on a street named "Edward Street". Other than the glass shredding your lungs, the weed its self is pretty crappy. Another guy adds chemical steroids to his mix to increase the potency. Some others also add Tik (a worse form of meth) to make it addictive and to create a stronger high.
Unless you can find a reliable seller, this is pretty much what you have to settle with.

The plan is to either do outdoors or in a small 1.5m x 1.5m x 2m greenhouse as I don't want to spend thousands on setting up a decent indoor grow tent (import fees makes its unaffordable).

The biggest challenge is humidity. We have an average RH of 76% all year round. If I use a greenhouse, this will go up, but even so, 76% is quite high for flowering outdoors. I plan to start my grow around 12 October as I return back home from Shenzhen on 11 October.

Average temps for the time I plan to grow is 10ºC at night, some days dropping to 8ºC.
And day time average is around 26ºC sometimes peaking above 30ºC.

Day light hours are around 12 hours in October, going up to 14 Hours in December.

I am interested in growing Critical + 2.0 Auto or Amnesia XXL Auto.
This was based on strength, characteristics and yield.
Which would perform best or should I rather be looking at something else?
Plus, should I use a greenhouse with a fan to vent or should I grow in the open. If I choose a greenhouse, if need be, I can always hang a fluorescent light to extend the hours by 3 or 4.

Security is not an issue and I couldnt care less what my neighbors think, its legal now :crying:

Yes I saw on the news in the UK. Good stuff. I have grown the critical and would have thought the leaf and bud structure would be good for less than ideal conditions. I have not grown the other one. Some other outdoors man will surely chime in. Good luck and congratulations.

Sent from my comfy chair.

Welcome to AFN pal,,,

I did see that you lucky guys got the green light to grow ,,,, great news,,,,

You've had the best outside grower I know @912GreenSkell tagged in to the convo so nothing for me to input ,,

That member has some great how to threads , well worth a visit

Make your self at home , pop into livestoner if you want to chill, ask a question , share a tune :pass:

Hello!! Congrats on getting legal to grow!! Woohoo!! So, the temps seem great, but for sure that 75+ RH is going to be a serious challenge!!

I grew out a critical + photoperiod this year, and i certainly had some mold problems in relative humidity close to what you deal with. If it was me, i would switch up the critical to Dinafem Auto White Widow XXL. Its a very, very hardy outdoor plant from what i have seen and grown.

Greenhouse versus outdoor - yes the greenhouse will be higher in RH% than outdoors, however if you have power in the greenhouse you can increase circulation by adding a couple of oscillating fans, which will help in decreasing any mold immensely.

Have a look at this thread! https://www.autoflower.org/threads/maximizing-outdoor-autos-guide-to-growing-under-the-sun.56402/

Just so you know, i am super busy harvesting right now for the next month, so i might be sporatic or slow in my responses.

Thanks for the advice. I'll give the White Widow XXL a shot. Luckily the local supplier of seeds sells the Dinafem White Widow XXL Auto's so thats great.
I have been researching in-depth for the past week, probably 6 - 8 hours a day on how to resolve this humidity issue.

I think I am going to go the route of using a greenhouse. The one I am looking at is 1.46m x 1.46m x 2m so there is ample space for 4 plants.
Getting power to the greenhouse shouldn't be a problem as its intended location will be relatively close to the house so I can always run some power to it in a conduit. Got a couple more weeks to go until I'm back home so I can start growing, sucks being abroad for 3 months at a time.
After coming across some LED grow light strips on Amazon, I'm thinking of perhaps getting 2 rolls and using those to add a couple of hours of light.
The LED strips aren't terribly amazing but its better than not having any light

Anyway, I hope your harvesting goes well and that you have large yields and high potency.

Thanks

hi and :welcome: :woohoo:legal
security is not an issue.....are you going to pitch a tent beside the greenhouse ? check out grower @WalterW is from your neck of the woods.
good luck n keep er lit.
:pighug:
Haha, no need to pitch a tent as my bedroom is right next to it.
As this is South Africa, we do have some things for security as standard lately due to the high crime rates.
All most all houses have high walls with electric fencing to top it off, secondly I do have a doberman who hates people she is not familiar with.

Thanks for the advice. I'll check out some of his posts.

Perfect!! Yeah i did a dinafem AWW XXL last year and our season was brutal. It rained almost every day throughout flower, and the days it didnt rain it was 80%+RH. Just one of those seasons. It did well though! Minimal mold and a big plant with great bud.

I have been researching in-depth for the past week, probably 6 - 8 hours a day on how to resolve this humidity issue.

Several factors will determine whether a plant gets boytris
1 Circulation - I believe this is key in reducing mold. Constant moving air across central colas helps for sure.
2 Genetics - Some strains do not mold as easily as others. Often taller open structure plants are better against mold.
3 Plant health - A very healthy plant is better against mold. Grow them healthy and strong!
4 Daily dew - Here we deal with heavy daily dew during most of the summer and in the fall. Greenhouse for the win here of course.

The one I am looking at is 1.46m x 1.46m x 2m so there is ample space for 4 plants.

Depending on the strains and how they grow!! My AWWXXL was 43" (110cm) and 43"(110cm) wide. If you grow them right and conditions are ideal they can get pretty huge!!

Sure, why not right!! How many hours of daylight do you get during the planned flowering duration?

Anyway, I hope your harvesting goes well and that you have large yields and high potency.

Thanks bud! I am a week away from harvesting a monster photoperiod blueberry. Looking forward to it!!
