Grow your own in the outdoor heat, maybe Australia!!

Realize too @the green bandit that the majority of weed grown these days is indoors. Sun growers are certainly the minority, when compared to indoor fellas.

Yeah, that’s becoming painfully obvious. Sadly. I love outdoor bud - it’s my favorite, when done well.

This makes me hate people in general...it sucks that you have to even worry about such a thing!! :cuss::cuss::tang:

Assholes too stupid or too lazy to grow their own...that's all. Worst thing is before the thievery, i would have went wayyy out of my way to help anyone...funny thing is i never did help any local, because i never trusted anyone local enough to help them.

We will have quite an amount of information stockpiled here on AFN in the coming years I think!! Every thing I know about growing has come from in here :d5:. If we keep documenting our grows those in the near future will have a wealth of information available for them:thumbsup:
:bighug::pighug:

I’m with ya, brother. Not pissed but certainly let down and frustrated. Many of these breeders post NO (or almost no) information on the grow characteristics of their products but spend multiple flowery paragraphs on the wonderous odors and effects and various insider awards. You’re lucky to get a “medium” or “easy” description that encompasses the info the grower has to go on.

That’s alright, we’ll get it figured out with the help of the AFN braintrust!:shooty:
Thats right man....its up to US to figure it all out...to be honest that suits me just fine!! For me its all part of the fun!
I don't know why I get my knickers in a twist....if someone tells me something won't work it makes me want to try it even more anyway! As you say mate it's part of the fun working it all out :joy:

Our weed culture is terrible over here! I was guilty of saying outdoor weed wasn't as good as indoor before I started growing my own....now my opinion has definitely changed . Some of the best weed I've ever smoked has come from my very own outdoor garden . Definitely more potent and flavorful than anything I can get on the street!
Many people think outdoor sucks....its only because they are not smoking any grown by someone that actually knows what they are doing.

“Hi there. The reason I recommended Frisian Dew is that it's the only one where I got effusive feedback in recent years from an Aussie outdoor grower. Yes, it is indeed excellent in cool climates, but it does an even better job in good climates like yours. The Zkittle and Durban Poison both do excellently in hot climates and should finish in time. Durban, as an older variety, has more outdoor growers and she is reliable and super potent. She might finish a tiny bit faster than the Zkittle. Both will be avid drinkers in the heat and both will produce large plants with unrestricted root space. planted directly in the ground will allow tall plants that can reach up to 2-3m in good soil with good nutrition. Durban is probably a little bit more robust against bad storms (if you get any). If planted directly into the ground, be sure to keep the patch of earth thoroughly watered to encourage root growth to the sides and below. The bigger the roots, in general the larger the plants. Good luck!”

Here’s another response that’s laregely in reference to @Maria Sanchez suggestion of Desfran and Santa Marta Haze as potentially good for our type of climate...

“Interestingly, one of the reasons auto growers enjoy planting auto seeds is that they can harvest under mid summer sun. Some claim that it is akin to indoor growing, buds form under maximum sun intensity and are stronger - food for thought. With the temperatures and long summer, you are totally right a Haze variety would be good. We occasionally hesitate to recommend Haze to outdoor growers due to the long bloom times needed. If the plants don;t quite finish in time, or if the winter arrives earlier than it should then the whole season can be a waste. But I have been looking at the climate data and temperatures and I think you should be OK. Desfran is a real tropical jungle Haze. She is incredibly stretchy and indoor growers find her exceptionally difficult - she fills the grow room so quickly and can be tricky to handle.

But, with unrestricted root space she could reach 3m or more in optimized conditions outdoors. Santa Marta Haze from our sister company Seed Stockers is also a good choice. Frisian Dew would finish before them both, but the Haze looks like she should be OK in Aussie summers. OutLaw Amnesia from Dutch Passion is another good Haze with large plants. I imagine the Haze varieties would finish May in the southern hemisphere.

The real difficulty is that few of the seed companies can give absolute guarantee's, the first year will show you a lot about the possibilities. Most european seed companies get the bulk of feedback from northernhemisphere growers and relatively little from down under. Personally I would try several photoperiod varieties and some autos to give you an idea. Few outdoor growers start knowing all the variables. And maybe there are some forums where aussie growers share experience of dealing with the outdoor hours, offering their own tips etc.”

Hey that is some decent advice, and good to see some insight into the strains we are talking about!!! I have to say....i will certainly vouch for the toke on the durban...quite impressed with it!! I would grow again for sure. For a sativa mine finished pretty quickly.

That's a lot better response than I would have ever expected 10 points for DP!! A really positive response from them :d5:.

Sorry to all that had to read through my frustrated comments yesterday, on further thinking last night I noticed my climate is a little unique even for most Australian growers. Most of our population is along the coast and more so concentrated in the southern states where temperatures are usually a lot cooler than mine with daylight hours also being longer than mine. This probably does make it a little difficult for most seed companies to have any reliable sources of information specific for my climate! Our climate conditions would make up for a very small percentage of outdoor grows I'm sure! Would still be good if more information about a strains outdoor performance in known environments was listed on companies sites though.:vibe:

There are a few Aussie growers at the Mr Nice forum.
Mostly due to the Shantibaba Australian connection I think.
