Indoor Grow#2 Mephisto Chemdogging by Greenjeans:DWC/SCROG/CFL

That is the plan. To sterilize and clean with the Physan 20 and run the Zone continuous. But, the Physan should kill everything with a 1 hour or so run of it if there is ever another problem. That is my theory, and it seems to have worked for some others..

Definitely, I'm gong to keep an eye on your journal. I wish you success in the future bro!

Day 29: Judgement Day

The Cabinet upgrades were completed last night, and Man, is it hot in this garage. 105 degrees today!

The heat is going to be a serious battle for me 3 months a year. That is, after all what caused the root rot, IMO.

So fast forward from the last update, and I have decided that rather than trying to battle this heat, and risking more disasters, I am going to try to save Lilith.

I have been adding hydrogen peroxide to the res daily since the problem started, and she is definitely trying like hell to pull out of it. Today, I hit her with everything I've got. Let's see if I can cure these res herpes!

Here are some pics of where we are right now, and then I will lay out all of the steps I have taken to beat the root rot.

So, while the original damage persists, She is definitely pulling out of it just from the peroxide treatments.. But I took several steps to see if I can completely eradicate the problem and prevent re-infection..

1. I cleaned ALL of my gear THOROUGHLY with a solution of 4 drops per gallon Physan 20. EXTREMELY poisonous stuff..

2. I mixed a spray bottle 50/50 water and 3% peroxide, and completely saturated the roots and medium with it twice from every possible angle and set that in a sterilized bucket while I mixed the res water up.

3. I put 2ml/Gallon of the Dutch Master Zone in the res, and assuming it works well, I will be running 1ml/Gallon after this first res indefinitely, to maintain a sterile res. This should prevent further outbreaks AND give me a bit more leeway on my res temps.

4. I added a shot of peroxide to the res.

Nutrients into 3 gallons:
Cal Mag 6ml
Flora Duo 15ml A, 5ml B.
Rapid start 6ml.
Floralicious Plus 1ml

PHed to 5.5

Now, lets see how stout these Mephisto Genetics really are! Talk about a stress-test!

Cabinet looks great! You made a hole in the bottom of you cab...that's what I'm going to do too :)

That whole lower section is new. I added an 18 inch chamber to the bottom. :)

Day 31:

Today I laid her over and tied her to the lid.. I also removed the majority of the bad leaves. This should be the last major stress that she encounters. I'm looking forward to seeing what she does.

Just noticing how off the colors are. I hooked up a couple of cfls for the lighting, but I left the LED on. I will have to figure out a good way to take pics. I'll get there. Next time I will shut the LED off.

Speaking of the new lights, I'm happy to report that they both function correctly, and they are BRIGHT. Unfortunately, they put off more heat than I was expecting. I've never used LEDs, but I thought they put off less radiant heat. The glass, and presumably the bulbs, are not hot, and the air that exits the vents isn't that hot, but those bulbs kick off a lot of radiant heat. When you put your hand under the light your hand can really feel that the light itself is hot. Like it is giving you a sun-tan. Maybe it is the 5w LED vs the 3w? At any rate, I had expected to have issues in the summer months, and I think that my cabinet designs are working pretty damn well, considering the fact that the garage is running around 100 degrees in the afternoon/early evening right now.

Anyway, it's hot as hell in this garage, so I am only running one of the two 300w Lights. The cab is running between 84 and 87 degrees and the cool chamber is running about 10 degrees less than the grow chamber. The intake air is between 68 and 70 degrees, and the air pumps for the res sit directly in the intake stream.

The new cool chamber is about 20 inches x 32 inches @13 inches deep after the insulation and everything was added. It is insulated on all sides with R-5 rigid insulation, and contains a 10 inch high velocity fan which is pointed at the intake. It seems to be maintaining a constant temp that is 10 degrees lower than the growth chamber. I expect that to increase once the plant fills out enough to cover the hole and start shading the lower area.

DAY 36:

Well, despite the early issues, and the high res temps, she is looking really healthy. I'm sure she was slowed down, if not stunted from the problems, but it seems that I have cured the root rot. After the LST, she has formed three distinct tops, and has several more that should shoot up when she stretches. I expect that to be any time now, as she just showed me her titties a couple of days ago.

The GH Flora Duo is doing a GREAT job of stabilizing my ph. It pretty much stays where I put it, even at 1/4 strength. With the Humboldt Nutrients stuff, it would rise 1-1.5 points within the first 12 hours, and then after adjusting back down, it would creep back up and I would have to adjust a second, and sometimes third tome before it would stabilize, and then sometimes it would just shoot up randomly for no apparent reason. I am really glad to have that sorted out.

Anyway, here she is..
