Your gold. If you can swing about 7.00 you can get yourself 10 3 gallon grow bags on eBay. You can start about 6 in that area to compensate for any males. Worse case scenario.. You thin to 4 and put 2 outside. I noticed you liked Shortstuff seeds. You might want to check dope-seeds. They're running specials on shortstuff and since I do comparison shopping you can actually save some cash and end up with more.
Your lights will work ok. Hopefully your walls are pretty reflective. Heat will be a pretty big issue so ensure a lot of ventilation. if you use the grow bag idea you'll need some type of reservoir to catch runoff. Beyond that you should be fine. If you need nutrients my recommendation is the BLUE MOUNTAIN ORGANICS setup it can be bought for 25 and will last you several grows. Good growing bro.

I noticed you are going to use Ocean Forest from Fox Farms, I like the soil but it is a little hot and doesn't have the best drainage, I would mix it with about 1/3 active coco to keep the aeration and drainage up.
Either way you decide to go just be all you can be even in the face of adversity!

Good luck bro! :toke:

thanks for the advise guys im going to look into those grow bags. my box is made of plywood btw so i think i can get away with painting the inside white but seriously thanks i feel a little less worried now

Yeah paints cool. A sheet of plastic will work for your liner. Prolly talking 2-3 bucks at walmart or something

Plastic liner is a good idea, mite I suggest panda film as its around 80% reflective. Also FFOF is known to be hot a surffreak mentioned, I would suggest adding some coco & perlite. If your wanting airated grow bags 3gal smart pots (google) work wonderful, there are cheaper knock-offs. Happy growing bro...!

Another thing. This might have already been mentioned but make sure u sterilize the ffof soil. its been having alot of insect issues as of late. 3 common methods are microwaving, steam cleaning with boiled water and baking the soil. Id personally stay away from the baking method as it smells the whole house up with cooked tirds.

^^ I agree but at the same time I disagree. I contacted FF about this and they believe it's the distributor and how they house the product. (I've had NO issues with my local nursery who gets it from a distributor in northern GA.. all my FFOF has been very very good) Inspect the soil pretty well, and I'd also leave it open in an area (that is FREE of pests) for a day and see what happens. Gnats aren't going to just form because there's a plant, the eggs would have to already be in the soil. Best way if you need to sterilize is, unfortunately, the baking - but as noted it stinks to high hell. Steam cleaning is very very effective as well, but the most tedious of the methods. I never microwave because IMO it stinks worse than the baking and I just have this thing about radiation and dirt.

As noted the drainage isn't that great, I toss some perlite in the bottom of my pails to improve it - also, no nutrients for the first 30 days, don't forget!

thanks alot guys..if i do go with the panda film would i have to paint the inside white? painting it probably will end up being cheaper but i wouldn't mind spending the extra money to save a little time, plus i hate painting lol. Also how much would perlite and coco cost me? I know im going to have to spend some money but i dont want to turn this into an outrageously expensive project...especially for my first time. In yalls opinion what would be the cheapest and most fool proof way for me to go about this?

just checked out dope-seeds.com but they dont ship to the u.s that sucks

I have less disease problems going with 100% Cana coco. I have moved away from soil. It holds the water real well and can take a couple days without drying out.

Most nuits will do fine so don's stress about which one. I can grow fine with plain Miracle grow. I do use a special 2 part hydro nuit but I am not tied to it.

I put my pots in a kiddy pool so not to spill the water all over. They work well. Pot plants like their roots cool so if you have em in a pool you can put an inch of cool water in the bottom of the pool. That way also you will be sure you are getting nuits to the bottom of your growing media. The plants are happy to suck it up from the bottom of the pool. It also can give you a few days holiday if you have to leave them alone. They hate to dry out.

It is a real bonus setting up to have your lights on a pulley system with a boat trayler winch crank to raise em up and down. It is the first thing I went to after my first year of growing inside.
