New Grower "GodAmJT's Perpetual Greenery"

Unfortunately, the plant is starting to look worse, so I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to do now.. I'm going to change out the res water again, and just use basic nutes, but at a slightly higher level than 300pm, and try to run it for 30min... If this thing keeps going this way, it's going to be dead by mid-to-end of next week..

So I decided..... WoS AKR seeds are germing as we speak.. I need to get more rockwool minicubes, but that won't be for a week or 2 before I need them.. Now that I don't have any anticipation of moving, the next grow should hopefully work out a bit better..

I've learned a few lessons from this one:

1. Even if your friends are reliable and try their hardest to help you out, sometimes, it's just not enough..

2. It's just a plant.. I got very angry and spent the first 2 days sulking and being angry; for no reason.. I can grow more.. Sure, it's a big set-back since I was at week 6/7 I think, but at least that's it..

3. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure: Anyone who thinks they won't get infestations, is lying to themselves, as I found out.. It can happen to anyone, any plant, any time.. Even the awesomely strong Dinafem genes were no match for spider-mites and a little underfeeding.

4. Always have the vision to know that anything could go wrong at any time, and you just need to be prepared for it.. I was lucky that it was just plants..

Anyway.. Once the AKRs pop and I get them in the rockwool cubes, then I'll start to detail that grow a little more.. For now, I'm going to try everything in my power to salvage at least something from this grow..

Thanks for following guys!!

Good luck on saving your plant ... sounds like you learned some valuable lessons ...

Been doing a ridiculous amount of reading today and I found this.. I hadn't found too many actual pictures and it sounds like I've got a few different nutes that are being locked out.. So now, I'm starting to wonder if pH is my problem.. I'm currently flushing my rockwool COMPLETELY with just regular distilled water.. When it's done in about 10min, I'm going to make a regular nute-mix and pH it to 5.7-5.9 and run the pump to get nutes in the rockwool.. I'll see if it does anything tonight.. I swear, I'm starting to see some new growth, but almost all of the fan leaves are dead, so I'm hoping that the plant will at least finish, even if it's a little retarded and a big pain in my ass...

" Nitrogen - Plants need lots of N during vegging, but it's easy to overdo it. Added too much? Flush the soil with plain water. Soluble nitrogen (especially nitrate) is the form that's the most quickly available to the roots, while insoluble N (like urea) first needs to be broken down by microbes in the soil before the roots can absorb it. Avoid excessive ammonium nitrogen, which can interfere with other nutrients. Too much N delays flowering. Plants should be allowed to become N-deficient late in flowering for best flavor. Magnesium - Mg-deficiency is pretty common since cannabis uses lots of it and many fertilizers don't have enough of it. Mg-deficiency is easily fixed with ¼ teaspoon/gallon of Epsom salts (first powdered and dissolved in some hot water) or foliar feed at ½ teaspoon/quart. When mixing up soil, use 2 teaspoon dolomite lime per gallon of soil for Mg. Mg can get locked-up by too much Ca, Cl or ammonium nitrogen. Don't overdo Mg or you'll lock up other nutrients.
Potassium - Too much sodium (Na) displaces K, causing a K deficiency. Sources of high salinity are: baking soda (sodium bicarbonate "pH-up"), too much manure, and the use of water-softening filters (which should not be used). If the problem is Na, flush the soil. K can get locked up from too much Ca or ammonium nitrogen, and possibly cold weather.
Phosphorous - Some deficiency during flowering is normal, but too much shouldn't be tolerated. Red petioles and stems are a normal, genetic characteristic for many varieties, plus it can also be a co-symptom of N, K, and Mg-deficiencies, so red stems are not a foolproof sign of P-deficiency. Too much P can lead to iron deficiency.
Iron - Fe is unavailable to plants when the pH of the water or soil is too high. If deficient, lower the pH to about 6.5 (for rockwool, about 5.7), and check that you're not adding too much P, which can lock up Fe. Use iron that's chelated for maximum availability. Read your fertilizer's ingredients - chelated iron might read something like "iron EDTA". To much Fe without adding enough P can cause a P-deficiency.
Manganese - Mn gets locked out when the pH is too high, and when there's too much iron. Use
chelated Mn.

Zinc - Also gets locked out due to high pH. Zn, Fe, and Mn deficiencies often occur together, and are usually from a high pH. Don't overdo the micro-nutrients- lower the pH if that's the problem so the
nutrients become available. Foliar feed if the plant looks real bad. Use chelated zinc"

And I'm gonna keep blowing up my thread, since I'm still in a funk about where things went wrong.. In some potentially positive news, it almost seems like the death is slowing down.. I'm noticing some new growth, and more pistils, so that's encouraging.. Overall though, the plant looks like hell.. Most of the stems are all reddish purple, and even the main stalk has a bit of purpling.. pH drifting has been at it again with me, so I pH'ed the res again, and ran it.. The good news, is this time, the runoff was measured at 5.8-5.9, so hopefully, I can keep it there.. Temps couldn't be more perfect, either!! ppms are 390-400 of a basic nute mix, but I threw a tiny bit extra Bloom and a tiny bit extra Cal/Mag; no KoolBloom and only a splash of Silica.. Oddly enough, the plant is starting to stink in a good way, and I sort of take that as a sign the plant may be trying to rebound..

Here is the carnage as of late...

So, last update for today, and possibly for the next few days for the Zambeza; she's tired and may need to take a long LONG dirt-nap.. I pulled off 2 more fan leaves as they were completely necrotic, and now I'm starting to see Chlorosis on a bunch of the leaves yet some of the older growth is still vigorous and still nice and green.. I'll be damned if I am going to trash this thing if it's still green, even if I only get a bowl-pack.. I'm going to see this through, "'til death do us part.."

The positive notes from today though:

#1 - Cleaned out the basement of the new apartment and realized I have a TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNN of room to setup my grown down there with very few modifications needed to make it very inhabitable for my girls.. I know the upstairs neighbors blaze, so there exists a small possibility that if I can work some magic, I can quietly keep the grow going without them being to sneaky and suspicious.. I have a spot that I can toss them behind some storage and other than figuring out how to quiet the inline fan a little, possibly figuring out a humidity issue, I may be okay!!

#2 - AKRs have been germing for about 30-ish hours.. Both have a small taproot although one of them is a little bigger than the other.. Tomorrow morning, they'll be going into rockwool cubes and into the humidome for Grow 3.1.2 - 3rd attempt, 1 strain, 2 plants.. No moves in sight, no harassment, and only a mild discouragement from this previous one that started out 10x better than my first..

#3 - Did a bunch of research on soil growing as high-brix today, which may become a small side project of mine.. I am actually thinking of running a soil and a rockwool side-by-side under the same lighting to see what kind of results I get.. I have a distinct feeling that will be a hell of a fun time, but a pain in my ass, since soil is so much different than hydro, so I will probably freak out and obsess once again, about nothing..

Maybe I should start some photo GDPs tomorrow....??

Damn, I love this hobby!!! She can be a cruel bitch, but she's a fair one..

Hydro is a science all by itself ... :Hookah:

AKRs are in their respective rockwools... Let's hope for less bullshit this time, and more awesome...

So I figured it would be prudent to note that the Zambeza has stopped killing itself, and I attribute it to a couple things, and it's been a few days of thinking it over... I think when I first got them back, I might have gone a little heavy on the nutes, however.... I can honestly say that pH was an issue the entire time, because once I got the pH stabilized 2 days ago, it hasn't moved at all and the plant is rebounding very well!! Just finished her feed at ~450ppm, and I may swap the res water today and try to get the pH dialed in beforehand.. She's starting to smell nicely, and her green is starting to come back nice and deep!! It's going to be touch-and-go the next week or 2, but if I can manage to keep the pH where it needs to be, she should at least give me some enjoyment down the road!!

Also, we have contact on the AKRs, and they're starting to emerge from the rockwool!!! :) So for a minute, I'm gonna have 3 plants going.. The best part about the AKRs is that I can officially begin LST, at my own apartment, and not have to worry about moving the plants!!!! Gonna have to do a little research to find people who did AKRs in hydro and see if we can compare notes..

Much to do!!!!! Now for the slightly-less crappy camera pictures!!! Found the camera this morning on accident, when I was looking for my pH/EC pens.. I messed with the white balance a little and finally figured out how to get this camera to let me adjust it without making the pictures look worse..

Looks like it's coming around ... hydro requires more care and knowledge than soil does ... it's beyond me ... but once you learn it you'll be set for life.

I'm interested in these AKR's, seem very popular. I notice it's taking over the tag cloud from the almighty Think Different too.

Good luck with the new apartment, the basement sounds like a perfect place to keep your growing going.
