I've search. I've read. I don't understand Ab vs ab charts for genetics. What I'm looking for here is an ELI5, or explain like I'm five on getting continuous auto traits.

So here's my example question. Say I plant 5 regular auto northern lights seeds, 5 female auto bubb seeds, and and 5 female northern lights autos. I get three male northern light autos and breed with 2 bubbs and 2 northern lights, both femmed autos. Will this continue an auto trait for either strain? Will the northern lights being closers in genetics be more stable?

I'm just using this as an example and I guess long story short...

TLDR. Can I breed regular male autos with female autos to get stable male/female auto seeds? I don't care if they're femmed, I just want auto traits.

You need to make one of your female autos, into a male auto. And use the polen of that male to pollinate the females.
What comes out are feminized auto seeds. If you just cross a Auto male with a auto female, you just get Autos, not feminized autos.
Hope I was clear, Cheers

So you're saying hermie a female on purpose?

Literally slap it around and give it a crazy light cycle? I was under the impression that would give me more hermies

From my understanding..
Reg AF x Fem AF = Regular AF
Fem AF x Fem AF = Fem AF

Their are a number of ways to get females to produce pollen

AF is a recessive trait - so if you want to make Photo plant into AF you need an AF plant in the mix and cross it back or some such...

Reversing a plant using CS or STS does not make a hermie, that is a false statement. With that being said I don't like fem plants myself it's just not natural.
But to answer your questions about it.
If you use any male plant you will NOT get fem seeds if the female was a fem seed it does not matter.

Breeding two autos make an auto

Breeding two photos make a photo

Breeding one photo and one auto should make all photo plants in the first generation, if you want to make that cross into a stable auto it will take 3+ generations.

I hope I'm not too stoned and this actually makes sense.

Hey there!! I am going to move this thread over to the breeding section. Great to meet you and good luck with your breeding!

To make feminized seeds yes, you need a female that hermie into male, so she only carries female genes, although she now makes pollen
To just make autos no need, this is just if you want to make feminized autos.

A 4 strain grow. Second try.

I think a better way to say it would be
"To make feminized seeds yes, you need a female to mutate into a male, so she only carries female genes, although she now makes pollen
To just make autos no need, this is just if you want to make feminized autos. "

The ST, CS or Roderisation does not technically make the plant a hermaphrodite. They instead mutate the plant(STS, CS or Giberellic Acid) to produce male flower with female pollen, and roderisation is a last ditch response of the plant to hopefully pollinate some other surrounding plant.

I should note I am definitely Not a breeder, though I did mess around with it many years ago. Please take everything I said about the subject with a grain of salt!!
