I have some experience, but that has worn thin over the past decade+ of me being inactive, but I recall beans were a lot easier to acquire than they are now. I've read a lot on this forum, from A to Z, but I've never seen any talk about ordering seeds and how difficult that can be. Cryptocurrency seems to be the preferred payment, but I use a dedicated visa pay-card. It's viewed as a pre-paid card. I can't purchase cryptocurrency. But my money is just as good as anyone else's.

I've spent hours upon hours researching the breeder and strain that I want to use, and now that I have everything ordered for a small personal grow, I can't buy the %**^$* seeds. When I grew outdoors back in early 2000's, I'd get sent beans for free from other members. What the hell happened?

It's only going to get worse when the banks/credit companies ban bitcoin purchasing. Six (6) hours now, unnamed breeder, I've been chasing your genetics, and I'm almost certain I've already encountered the hardest part of the whole grow. I guess that's a compliment if there ever was one.

If anyone could provide some insight into my issue, it'd be much obliged. How did you acquire your seeds?

Ahh, where are my manners? You can call me wave. I've been reading and learning from you all. Tremendous knowledge and teachings here. I medicate because of anxiety and am growing again because my parents are getting older, and I want to help them be more comfortable without the fuss. First time indoor grower, anticipating lots of learning.

Banks and credit companies got fook all to do with bitcoins and have no control over them at all mate. Other than by buying them. Bitcoins are used now because banks refuse to support transactions involving cannabis seeds etc. CREDIT CARD transactions that is. Bitcoin gets around this as nothing to do with banks.

What seeds are you after? Never had any kind of problem buying seeds myself.

What happened? Somehow you missed seed breeding becoming a massively high profit business and the world getting greedy?

Time happened. Life happened. But I'm making my way back. Once she grabs you, she doesn't let go! I'm after Fastbuds Blue Dream. As long as a financial institution can ban the purchase of bitcoin, they have the control. Anyway, it's disappointing to see all at once how much the scene has changed. I just want some damn beans. Harder now than it was 10 years ago

"The untold truth" may be pushing it.

First, you should be able to find some bitcoin for cash locally. Google is your friend.
Second, plenty of seedbanks will accept money orders/cash in an envelope. Do some research. Some things are worse, some things are better.

I use this store. Looks like they have the beans you are after:

Paying by card is no problem with them.

Banks aren't stopping the purchase of Bitcoins.
They are stopping purchases of Bitcoins with Credit Cards.
They are stopping people getting into debt by buying the latest FOTM.
They haven't stopped purchases on Debit Cards.

Seedmans also let's you purchase by debit/credit card. I believe they even have a part that does the Bitcoin buying for you if you wanted that to be your payment method.

Also like mentioned before, you can buy bitcoin from others locally with cash, many cities also have bitcoin ATMs that aren't linked to any banks just bitcoin companies. You can also attempt to mine your own Bitcoin is you really wanted to try.

It's definitely not pushing it. My guess, is most new growers didn't question the current process and the older school growers are already established, and had time to adjust.
I don't feel like I should have to meet up with someone to exchange cash for bitcoins in order to get good seeds. That adds a whole other layer to the whole process. Sending off cash is just risky. A money order is better, but we're talking going to the store to buy that MO with the same card that I can't use on the website. Then, gotta mail it, it has to be processed, all the while I'd be kinda in the dark. Not to mention I'd have to wait for the MO to clear. Then wait for the beans. I really appreciate your input, I do. It shouldn't come down to exchanging cash with a stranger in a parking lot. Another helping hand posted a link I'm going to follow, and I'll report back if I'm successful...or not.

Oh, I tried them in multiple browsers. Whenever I click my selection and buy now, it gives me a server-side programming error that I won't bother pasting. Maybe I could email them. I'll also look into Samwell's suggestion of seeing if Seedsman will buy the bitcoins for me. I don't think that will work, though, with this payroll card, that is considered a pre-paid card, even though it has a pin and is tied to me.
