Oh yeah I'm gonna thin out the slow ones until there's only a handful left per pot then wait another few days and reduce them to one per pot again.

Germ method that finally worked:
  • Put some coco in the little pots
  • Water it with half strength feed until runoff
  • Soak the seeds in a shotglass for 12hrs, straight up tap water
  • Put the seeds in the coco, about a centimeter deep (1/2")
  • Place them in the tent
  • Switch on the light, 24/0
  • Set the Temperature controller to 28.5C (83F)
  • Wait
KISS seems to be working for me so I'll stick to that. (The Moby Dicks I didn't even pre-soak, just straight into the coco)

Day 1: I lowered the light down to 40cm above and set it to 115watts (Day 0 was at 80watts) and watered them with half strength feed again.

Day 2: Changed light shedule to 20/4 and 158 watts, also culled some of the seedlings

Day 4: I've dimmed the light down again to 115watts, it's getting way to warm in the tent (32C/90F in the mornings already) with the current temperatures.
I've also reduced the number of candidates considerably, soon there'll be just one per pot left then those will go into a bigger shared growbag. I'm pretty happy with their development, still feeding at ~900ppm. Soon I'll go up to ~1000 if the temps go down again and I can push some more light.

Grouphug time
It's not a 7in1 orgy as some people here prefer but rather a polite little grouphug with social distancing :smokeout:

I did hear a "few" roots tear when repotting so it remains to be seen how much of an effect this will have on the little ones. I did however pick the right time; the roots had permeated the medium quite well, so nothing fell apart when I got them out of the little pots, but they hadn't began to circle yet.

Ease of use, that's all.

If you want something that costs you 50cents per plant lifetime in fertilizer use hakaphos or kristalon, if you want something that costs you 5$ per plant use canna coco.

I would suggest Option D of the fertilizer combos I listed there. The only problem is the salts suck water out of the air. Once it has absorbed some moisture you can't accurately weigh it anymore. Storing it in a large container or bag will inevitably expose it to wet air so pre-package your ferts in small weighed portions you can just drop into your bucket/res later.

I didn't get any younger in the past few years and that's just too much of a hassle for me.

Thanks for the reply. That point i had definitely not considered. Although it might still be ok for me as i don't plan on going big any time soon and only mix a 3 gallon bucket. So if I'm working on EC it shouldn't matter if it weighs inaccurately i can just work up to the right number.... I think.

Nene, the times of trying to go big and get max yields are over for me too. I even sized down to a 2x2ft tent (after testing the cardboard box a few years back). Buds have a halflife even if you cure them perfectly and store them perfectly they are gonna degrade over time. So this tiny tenty is all I really need for myself.

Here's something you may not know (yet).. but if you have mold in your tent EVERYTHING in your tent has the spores on it. That means if you cure it and glass it up sooner or later it's gonna grow mold. Even at low humidities. A proper dry and cure is going to stall that considerably but sooner or later it's gonna happen.

If you store it dark and cold and had a perfectly mold free grow you have about a year where it's still good, after that you might aswell smoke oregano.

I did have a spot of mold in one bud on one plant. I'm being wilfully ignorant about spore spread and the dangers of future outbreaks in my harvested gear. Nope. Didn't hear it, not going to happen. So far it smokes just fine. I think the ssh would have shown signs already if the spores from that vector were to be concerned about. That's not eliminating mold developing for other reasons. Shouldn't happen though.
