New Grower Garden of the Hesperides: II

Day 12: 3/11/21

I missed yesterdays update. Today everything is looking good! I raised the light a few inches and rotated the pot a bit. The stem looks to have straightened out and the leaves got noticeably larger and longer.

Looking nearly straight again!

I find that it is usually away from the light when they do the tilt. Most of the time they straighten out on their own or 180 spin a little soil around the stem. It always happens b4 they takeoff. The point where the stem thickness at least double every day. It stressed me out when I started but now I realize no worries.

Day 14: Couldn't miss the end of week 2 update! So 14 days in soil so far. I've barely watered beyond the first soil soak. 2L total added so far. I did give 1L of water when I added Miicrobial Mass last Saturday. Today I did add 1L of water with 1ml of Sensi Bloom A/B. 1L per week seems low. Just barely got a few drips of runoff today.

Todays addition: Just to show how strong the Advanced Nutrients Sensi Line is, I added and checked ph/ppm as I went. I usually blend tap/distilled but I wanted to be sure there was no funny business in my tap water effecting things. Plus I know the BioBizz LightMix soil has plenty of "stuff" in it.

1L distilled water @ 7.1pH and 0ppm
Added 1ml Sensi Bloom part A, then part B

results
A - 5.7 pH and 161 ppm
B - 5.4 pH and 423 ppm

Thats right, 423 ppm for 1ml/L, difficult to run in the low 200's for seedlings with this kind of concentration.

I had to use pH UP for the first time! I brought the pH up to 6.3-ish while stirring and waiting for things to settle. The pH up I am using is from General Hydroponics and is made of potassium carbonate. Once titrated it raised the ppm even further to 466.

Ok on to the pics!

Tight in there!

Once that fifth node sticks out enough I can get some cutters on it, OFF WITH THEIR HEADS! Incredible how fast this one is growing. Usually the guides all say 4th node by day 21. This is 5th by day 14! A week ahead! Whooo! (Ric Flair style)

Just a marked up pic for anyone super new like me having trouble understanding where to cut and so on. I'll post a top/topped pic in the next couple days. LST tie downs about to start as well.

@Vapo - This post is all for you man. Can you give me some cut lines? Should I take off those inner little stems or LST them out? I'm probably not going to go for the full manifold like you do. However, I will top, trim, and "LS"T those branches. Low Stress? - nah, hard pull. I dig your style.

Das plan:
I'm planning on removing at least the first node fully as the leaves are completely shaded already. I will probably cut those small inner stems just above the first node as well. LST the inner branches at the second, and pull the 4th wide open. Sound like a solid plan?

EDIT: The second and third leaves are massive solar panel factories so I woud like to leave them alone at the moment.

I have been going 20-22 days on the bio bizz light mix without nutes. My water hangs at 7.0 and 150ppm the lite mix bring it down to 6.8 going out. Not even adjusting the PH this time even though I have in the past. I am at 15 days in my grow of meph 24 carat. 4 plants, different sizes as well.

I have played with the 2nd and 3rd nodes a lot. Hard leaf tuck, or supercrop the leaves. Have also spun the stem so leaves are out of way and also just cut the 3rd off which is always blocking stuff. But in conclusion, I could not tell which was better for the plant.
