New Grower Garden of the Hesperides: II

SOOOOOOOOO slow starting these ladies. What a lot of people don't get (I know you do) is that they are just growing under the dirt that whole time developing roots.

Good to show people examples. Its not like monster colas pop up overnight...even if some on here make it look that way

Day 5: Seems like nothing is happening but! I know it's all under the soil! Measured the plant today and it stands at about 2.5" tall. My light is currently 11.5" above the soil so ~9" from the seedling. I have not bumped the intensity at all. Probably about 20-30%. I'll most likely increase it a bit tomorrow. Spritzed the soil around the stem but that is all for now.

Couple unexciting pics:

Maybe a little wider than yesterday. I know it's busy jamming down some roots!

For anyone curious there is a grow thread, I put the link below, with a germination technique I have never seen nor heard of. However, the guy has a great pic of how long a tap root might be on a very small seedling:

Borrowed, not stolen. The taproot in that photo is not the norm. At 3 days post sprout which is when I transplant the seedlings I would say the average taproot length is maybe 60% as long as that one. I did have one longer once too. It had hit the bottom of the solo cup and had a bend to it.

I do two things with my auto seedlings and I'm not sure I'm right in doing so. First, from the day I transplant the seedling I have a fan blowing on it. I've heard this strengthens the stem. I think most people do this yes? The second thing I do which I'm not sure is right/good is run my light at full strength and lower it down as close to the plant as I can and it still looks happy. If I see it's not looking happy I raise the light a bit till she's happy looking again. I appreciate any help and advice you can offer.

Day 6: Second set of leaves starting to form. Bumped the dimmer just a touch again. Starting tomorrow I'm going to switch over to 18/6 lighting schedule and bump the dimmer to at least 50%. Probably water a little bit too. Pot is still pretty heavy from the initial soak.

Baby cotyledons, first serrated leaves, & second set of leaves coming in strong. I know the serrated singles are only the first node but I'll probably top this one at either the 4th or 5th node.

Day 7: Twenty20 Mendocino - Trizkits

Day 7: Added 1L water with 2ml of Miicrobial Mass. (yes, 2 i i, m i i crobial) A product recommended by two personally respected growers @Kyote and @F.N. obv the usuals included but eh, y'all know who ya are. Plus hate to heckle the pros when they are busy. I'll call on "the trinity of knowledge" when I'm in trouble.

Lighting still at same height but adjusted intensity up to 50% and put on the timer for 18/6. Going to increase intensity up to 100% over the next couple days. Will raise the light according to the plant but try to maintain intensity at this point.

Nutrients starting tomorrow. Will be Advanced Nutrients Sensi Bloom A & B @ 1ml/L until flowering. Skipping the entire Sensi Grow nutrients per a modified schedule recommended by @hope2grow

Day 8 : Mixed but did not start nutes tonight. Soil was still way too wet. Pot is heavy and all the soil still appears damp/wet from last night.

Apparently I cannot get this guy centered under the light. Lots of lean tonight. I bumped the intensity more and gave the pot a spin. This one is definitely looking for light.

Second node coming on strong but agh, that angle!

One of my photos I'm growing right now did this. My veg light was at a weird angle or something and I couldn't get it straight. I just slowly rotated the pot until it was pretty close. Now its a big girl and has a little lean, but overall okay. I bet with some rotation by the time it starts getting too big, it'll be straight enough.
