Indoor Galaxy Brain by Night Owl

Update for day 21. Starting to see some good growth now. I killed most of the cover crop, added more malted barley and added a bit of gypsum as I didn’t have any when I mixed the soil.
Everything is looking good, I turned down my light a bit as it looked like the plant was trying to turn away from the light and since turning down my light I have seen a much happier plant almost overnight.

We are at week 4 (Day 29 to be exact) of my Galaxy Brain, I just started doing some LST. I normally would have topped at this point but I’m doing an experiment to see if I have better growth without. Mr. Toad was talking about how tipping causes hormonal stresses to the plants that slows them down. So why not try not topping.
She has been getting fed by the blumats, I did give it recharge and some powdered aloe on Monday as a supplemental feeding.

Time for the weekly update, I am currently one day before week five. You can see that there’s definitely some more growth forming. LST is allowing for new shoots to start growing upwards. The plant is starting to pre-flower showing it pistals clearly.

When the lowest branches get a little taller I will pull off one or two clones, I’ve been doing this every grow and have been using this for breeding projects for fun.
Yesterday I gave all my plants some light KNF teas I’ve made: comfrey, LAB and FPJ. I just provided about 1/4 -1/2tsp of each. I used this as a foliage spray for ipm and to feed the plants and soil a bit.

I have some homemade calphos from egg shells that I’ll start adding soon as I can see she is going to start flowering shortly. This is my first time adding it, I most likely don’t have to add more to my soil at this point but I don’t want the soil to be depleted. I’ll start adding some more dry amendments on the surface next week so give the worms time to break it down beforethe Plant needs it.

So I realized I had kept track of my temps and humidity and when I placed my thermometer and hygrometer in the room I realized how low my humidity was in there. I turned on my humidifier and am waiting for a wicking humidifier to come in so I can use tap water and not worry about mineral build up. I’ll use my cool mist for my drying room since I already have it and that room is much smaller and won’t cost as much to refill it with distilled water.
Hopefully I’ll see healthier growth on my plants. I felt like they should be taller and clearly my VPD has been all out of wack. Let’s see what happens in the next two days. Unfortunately I’m more in a room then a closet, so it’s a bit more difficult to manage the humidity with a smaller unit.

Week 6, 42 days update. Just fed this and other flowering plants some homemade calphos from egg shells. First time using it and used a dose of 1TBLS per gallon. I also added some humic acid and FPJ I had.
Happy to say humidity is up to 60% with my humidifiers going. Now my humidifier is hooked up to my inkbird controller and it is an evaporative unit so I can use tap water.

I got some burn this morning on my plants. I believe it was that some of my mixture got on the leaves. It doesn’t seem like it affected many but I definitely noticed it. I have a feeling it was the humic acid that did it. So note to self be careful not to overspray leaves with the humic acid.

Here is my week seven update on this great looking galaxy brain. Currently my humidity is ranging between 50% to 65%. I humidifier isn’t big enough for this large room and I’m currently in, how do you great for my tent.
I’ve only been giving the plants freshwater with and every so often/have some homemade inputs. I have some pollen from another auto mail that I would like to hit this with. I don’t think it’s gonna yield anything amazing, but will give me the opportunity to try to grow something similar to the galaxy brain and pheno hunt little bit later.

Here is my girl at 8 weeks today. She is growing beautifully. My humidity has gotten a bit low as the humidifier I have for the space is a bit underpowered but it isn’t too bad right now. I got two branches with some pollen yesterday and will do so again in another 2-3 days. I took two clones, both rooted. The taller one I took out of my rooting container to let it out. I sprayed it with STS tonight and will do so again in 10 days. The other small clone I’ll run as a pure female for the pollen collected. This is an experiment to get some S1s. This was my last seed so by getting a cross with one of the few reg seeds I have and by making some S1s I can try to grow it out again and get some interesting crosses to get my seed line closer to the actual Galaxy brain profile.
