New Grower First time grow.

This is my first grow and honestly have no idea what I’m doing. Watched a couple canuks videos on YouTube and figured i could do it. So I order 4 seeds from canuks seeds. 1- sour diesel 1-amnesia 1- zkittles and 1-gelato. I’m kicking myself in the ass for doing his way and not germinating the seeds first but I just threw them in the dirt. I’m using a soil/medium called just add water. So they all popped at different times, sour diesel being the last. All 3 were off to a great start until sour diesel popped up. Then it seemed like everything stalled. The sour diesel is now going on 5 days and hasn’t gotten its first leaves. Also the tips on the amnesia are yellow/brown. Please help!!!!!

heya @Zombs420 and to afn! sure, it'z best to germ em first, but at the same time, there'z nothin wrong with jus "throwin the beanz in the dirt", lol...as long as they have a little moisture, they'll pop up but, the key word there is a little, like jus a couple squirtz from a mister a couple timez a day...then, after they pop up, they can have a little water, but alwayz water in a ring around the stem, so that the rootz are forced to seek out the water on their own...if it'z right there where they're at all the time, they won't go anywhere & will just get waterlogged give us a few more detailz plz, like pot size & type, what kinda soil, what kinda light, do u have fanz blowing for good airflow, temp & humidity levelz, to name a few...i'm gonna say u've probly been overwatering, but otherz will chime in...how much have u been watering & how often-? what kinda water also...not that seedlingz care much what kinda water they get, but still, every bit o' info helpz again, otherz will chime in & anything else u need, jus give a holler

Thanks for the response. Light is a cheap eBay 1000 watt Phlizon with 2 cree cobs. Lights are on 18-6 and 30” away. Pots are 3gal cheap plastic pots. Dirt/soil or whatever it is is called just add water. I’m new so obviously never heard of it but guy at the grow shop recommended it. I used terp tea dry amendments like canuks does. As far as water I’ve been just using tap water. Amount, now that I’ve been reading, I think is too much. I started with about a shot glass full. And gave about the same amount every day since.

Also yes I had one fan in the now have 2. Another fan on the outside blowing fresh air in and still haven’t gotten my exhaust fan yet. Temps with light on stay at about 75F. With it off temps drop to around 65F. Humidity fluctuates but stay between 45% and 55%.

hmm...ok, a shot glass full izn't a lot, but every day could be...try every other day, with a light topsoil misting on the alternate day, and remember to water in a ring a couple inchez away from the stem...two essential toolz for a soil grower are a good soil moisture meter, and soil ph meter, so put em on ur list i meself jus have one o' the old probe style meterz from lowez that duzn't do so well on ph, but has alwayz been reliable for moisture...another tip is that good drainage is all-importante'...even if the soil sez it has perlite in it, alwayz add a bit more...i also grow in soil w/reg plastic potz, but alwayz drill xtra holez in the potz beforehand, and add a small layer of rockz at the bottom to help with drainage...ya see, me learned the #1 beginner'z mistake the hard way me first time round, and that was/is -> overwatering...remember, there'z no such thing as overwatering, but there is such a thing as watering too often another connected mistake that happenz is thinking that if sumthin goez wrong, the one time fix-all is "just add water" (see what me did there-? hehe :smoking ya gotta remember that it'z a weed, and can handle a dry day or two, no prob...i meself let the soil dry out completely to the bottom in between wateringz, but that'z jus me...one risk with keepin the soil too wet, besidez waterlogged rootz, is that of fungus gnatz, and omfg, u do not wanna ever hafta deal with thoze little bastardz! they're what happened to me my first time round & it was living hell, whew! lol anyhoo, the main thing to remember is "no rootz, no fruit", meaning that everything startz at the rootz, and without a good root base, there'll be no, or at least seriously compromized growth/yield...and ya see, the one & only food of fungus gnatz is, u guessed it -> rootz...and me thinkz u can do the math urself on the rest o' the story, lol me jus tryin to help save ya a bit o' possible grief is all

sorry. Yes first grow. The 4 other ones were just bag seeds I was using to set the box up while waiting on my seeds. Wasn’t really expecting them to stay around. Was mainly wanting to focus on the autos but the bag seeds are doing far better.

In the real estate field the popular saying is location, location, location.. In cannabis, it's genetics, genetics, genetics! Know what you're growing and who made it.. First and foremost!

5 days above soil with out a true set of leaves, is an issue.. It's highly unlikely that it was caused by something you did/didn't do though.. It's just a bad seed, possibly bad genetics. The tip burn could work both ways.. Could be that the soil is too hot, or that the seedling is sick/sensitive. Im leaning towards it being a sick/sensitive seedling.. You said you bought 4 seeds, then said that "all 3 popped up at different times", then posted pics of 2 seedlings.. So you either have one or two other seedling that aren't shown, that must be doing ok. If that's true, that tells me that the soil is probably not too hot. If so, all of the seedlings would have tip burn. The discoloration on the seedling without true leaves, is called varigation. It's not related to nute burn.

For the seedling with leaf tip burn, you can always dig it up and transplant it into a lighter potting soil. Or you can wait it out and see if she recovers. Some do, so don't.

Ps.. Rule 1264 of growing your own.. "Don't listen to dudes that work in grow shops".. They don't know your situation or experience level. They are salesmen, not mentors.

Rule 1023 of growing your own... "Mimic nature whenever possible".. Nature doesn't use pre germ techniques. No paper towels, no DVD cases, no complete darkness, none of that.. Mature seeds just naturally fall off of the plant and into the dirt to wait for rain/water hit hit them. This has worked perfectly for thousans of years. Your germ choice is fine, more than fine actually, because it mimics nature.
