I am planning on growing 2 plants of Blue Diesel Auto and would love any help or recommendations on what sort of nutrients to use (how much? when?) and if a ScroG or SoG method is worth doing to maximise yield. Here is a bit of info about my setup;

Lighting: 4 x 35W CFL ( 2 x 2700k + 2 x 6400K) to be set on 18/6 (any recommendations?)
Soil: Homebase multipurpose with added John Innes No. 2 (+ 20% Perlite)
I am also using fans to circulate air which will be suspended above and below my girls (hopefully!).

My concerns are with feeding and yields, I was wondering which nutes to go with and how important they are- thinking of using BioBizz Grow/Bloom and Dr. Hornbys Big Bud when flowering starts. Would there be any way to increase yield? lst? ScroG or SoG? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

Hey man your gonna love your first grow man, Its not as hard as you may think. You could do difficult setups or simple little CFL gardens, like myself. With any plants in soil I usually dont feed them anything for the first 15-20 days and then half strength at first gradually increasing. Feed, Feed, Flush is a decent cycle and usually keeps the ph in a decent range. Dont know how that strain grows but you could gently LST them to gain yeild. I like using a net myself 2 inch x 2 inch square net I took from an old Hockey net. Works great with the plants when they are topped but topping auto's is not really a good thing to do and causes lower yeilds. I like to try to let them do there own thing and plant as many as close together as I can get them. Hope any of what I said helps man. Good luck and have fun with it.

Thanks for the reassurance man! i dont think ill bother with LST dont want to mess anything up, as for the feed, feed, flush cycle ill deffinately give that a go :) do you recommend any brand of nutes or are the biobizz ones ok? cheers

Can you go bigger on the lights? You won't get much, maybe 7-12 grams (twelve is under quite optimal conditions) with that kind of lighting. With low lighting like that you're definitely going to have to do some LST and constantly be leaf tucking. If you could get another 75 or so watts in there you'd be much better off for a single plant. My general rule of thumb when using CFLs is 180W per plant - yes, you can do it with less, but if you want to get results similar to vegging with T5HO/VHO then you need to use 150W+ per plant in veg and 180W+ in bloom, IMHO.

Biobizz makes some good nutrients, a lot of folks here use them in combonation with the LightMix soil they make. Do you have anymore info on your soil's ingredients?

For a FOOL proof grow without any worry of Checking ph grab advanced nutrients sensi grow ph perfect....another option If budget can afford it get a small 50w or 90w UFO grow light, can grab one easily for 75-100... Also do not start feed at half strength rather 1/4 and work your way up ;) :thumbs: most important thing I see. Your doing is researching asking questions and making a plan... Always a good way to get off to a good start!

wg- Im not too sure on the content of the soil it contains John Innes No. 2 which ive heard is good and also contains around 35-40% peat (if that helps). As far as lights go i am working on a bit of a budget but i should be able to add in a few more once the plant is larger in a few weeks.
