Photoperiod First Photo Attempt: Green Crack and Bubba Kush

To follow up on the tacoing... not sure if this is particularly relevant, but this is the first week this girl has NOT been supplemented with Cal-Mag. I know this is coco and all but I figured I'd stick to the GH feedchart, which drops the Cal-Mag in the second last week of flower. I wonder if that has anything to do with it? Perhaps I should add a low-dose in for the rest of this week, since this is coco and all...

I'm currently feeding the 'Ripening Week' nutes from the chart, which is the Flora trio + GH Ripening for 2.5 more days, then the feedchart switches to a plain water/flushing week. Based on what we know on flushing, I'm gonna forego this and just feed GH Ripening during Week 8. However, I think I might add a smidge of Cal-Mag for the remainder of this week (7).

Also, if I had my time back, I think I would have extended the late bloom nutes before switching to the ripening nutes, as she was still growing pistils when I made the switch. Should have held out, at least I think... Lots of notes from this grow for next time lol :D

Flower - Week 7
Week 7 of Flower

Hi again,

Just finished Week 7 of flower. As per the discussion above, I had some lead taco'ing. I bumped the humidity up in my tent a little bit as it was on the drier side. I've also noticed quite a few fungus gnat larvae in my run-off. I think they're growing in my saucers, which I can't really get at on account of the trellis. I think on my next grow, I'll get some mosquito bits or nematodes. Anyway, these things probably aren't helping the taco situation! I'm debating running through some diluted 29% H2O2 for at least one fertigation. I'm so close to the end here I'm not too concerned about losing some beneficial bacteria to take out some gnats. For my next run however, I think I'll look into mosquito dunks or nematodes...

Anyway, the taco'ing doesn't seem to be getting any worse and I plucked the most offending leaves (I know, I know, :p )

Anyway, here's some pics. She's real stanky....

Peroxide isn't going to kill them. Nematodes work the best with the triple threat IPM packages used monthly as a drench.

I doubt the folding of the leaves had to do with CaMg. What is your input pH on your nutrients? I see you had tips burning but there are a myriad of reasons for your issues. Temp/humidity/ec/pH can be culprits but also the overall volume of water going through your pots can be a contributing factor as well. How often and how much are you watering?

She looks good overall though, I foresee a strong finish for her.

Thanks.

Input pH has been around 5.8-6.2 for the second half of flower, although probably closer to 6.1-6.2 for the last week or so. EC around 1.1 in, 1.2 out. Today I started feeding GH Ripen on its own, which the bottle recommends for the last week of flower.

The burnt tips came from early flower when I was watering once a day in my 7gal pots, but I had a high EC runoff for several days. Since then I’ve been fertigating 3x a day, to a good 20% runoff. Somewhere around 2-3L per event. Smaller pots and automated system next time lol.

Flower - Week 8 & Harvest
Weeks 8-9 of Flower & Harvest Update

Hi everybody,

I'm happy to report that my plant has been harvested :vibe:

If you've been following along, you'd recall I started with a Bubba Kush and a Green Crack. The Bubba grew balls in early flower, but the Green Crack persisted, although not without issues of her own. To name a few problems: ignorant usage of a RapidLED Blue Puck early on, a poor second transplant, a good two weeks of serious overfertilization, and a huge fungus gnat infestation late in flower. I'm attributing my taco leaves to those bloody gnat larvae :finger:

Nonetheless, I'm pleased to say the Green Crack was successfully harvested and is currently hanging to dry in my tent at 16-17C, 60% RH.

Excuse the coat hangars, pipe cleaners and bungee cord :crying:

All my previous drying has been done in ~5 days. I'm really trying to shoot for a 14 day dry period this time around, so I've added a small cool-mist humidifier to the tent to maintain ~60% RH or so. I have my extraction fan running at a low speed but an alarm mode set up to go to full tilt if my RH creeps above 70% or so.

Ill be back the weekend after next with a trim and yield report :toke:

Cheers,

tron

Beautiful!

Nematodes in the future will get rid of fungus gnats. You don't need to exhaust during the dry except to stay around 55-60% humidity to achieve your two week dry, especially if you can keep the temps under 70f, it preserves terps as well.

Just ordered myself some nematodes for the next round!

Yeah with my exhaust on low and humidifier on medium I'm getting around 57-62% in the tent there now. Temps around 61-64F.

My boss at work informed that it was typically his experience in coco, dozens of commercial grows, that coco tends to draw root aphids as well. Much to my surprise he was right as I encountered them in my Coco. I also recalled using a different medium and encountering them as well.

Beauveria Bassiana is a fungus that you water in which will kill them and several other pest that may be lurking. I personally wouldn't use it in flower, some at work reported weakened terps profiles, but up until week 2 of flower and all of veg should be fine.

Did you get the triple blend? I added nematodes last night, no fertilizer just ph'ed RO and poured enough over each pot but not enough for runoff

Trim & Yield Report
Trim & Yield Report

Hey folks,

Well, we've reached the end of the line on this grow. To recap, this was my first attempt with photoperiods after growing autoflowers for a couple of years. This was also my first attempt in coco. I started with a Green Crack and a Bubba Kush - both from Canuk Seeds - in a 2x4 tent under two 135W LEDs.

The Bubba hermied in early flower and was destroyed, leaving just the Green Crack to finish. I'm happy to report the Green Crack yielded 11oz bud + 3oz trim. My goal for both plants total was 12oz, so I'm pretty happy I still managed to get 11oz from just the one.

A sincere thank-you to everyone who offered their help, support and kind words along the way: @Death The Cultivator @Suki813 @Cardinal @Mañ'O'Green @beavens @Big Sul @fauxnacho @Kyote @Mizzo81 @Modernviking @Olderfart @Stilg7

I like doing things twice, so next up is my second photoperiod run: Gorilla Glue #4 and White Widow from Canuk Seeds. Stay tuned. After that, I think I'll hop back to the autoflower train...

:vibe:

Thus concludes this grow journal!

Thanks for reading!
