New Grower First grow with $250 budget - Fugue State

I doubt it was over watered, I was away for 2 days and the soil dried out, and the leaves looked the same as they did when I was watering a little more frequently. The soil drains well and doesn't stay wet too long.

So, I used Happy Frog soil with bottom 1/3 of pot containing amended super soil sold on Amazon mixed with more Happy Frog. It's supposed to be PH balanced for Cannabis without having to add anything. I haven't added nutes since this method is supposed to be "set it and forget it"

But I'm wondering now if I should get a PH tester and see what's going on.

It's probably good to have a decent soil probe anyway but let's hope she grows out of it. Hopefully just the roots hitting the bottom layer :pass:

Is your light 300w at the wall? What's the model?

YES !!! You do need one. To start my first grow they gave me basic stuff and said no ph necessary, well it didnt work out at all. Your water needs to be Ph'd at the very least. Happy frog is a hot soil add to it the super soil and incorrectly ph water, your in for some stressed out plants. This is what I am using for ph. It's not the best by faaaarrr... but my plants are now flourishing! Good luck and much love.

Just to add, I'm not saying happy frog is a bad soil. I'm just saying it's a hot( has a lotta nutes) and when your ph is off nutrient absorption is affected.

The light is MAXSISUN Timer Control 300W LED. It's directly overhead. The light is 21" from the very top of the plant. The plant is 14" tall, so its 35" from the top of the soil. My tap water is supposedly ph'd by the county to approx. 6.5+.
Is it likely that my soil would read too high or low PH if there were to be a problem?

Your light sounds perfectly positioned. With auto flowers the ph is different than photos. The book I have says 5.8 to 6.2 is the perfect ph I dont check the soil, so I'm not sure on your question, but if you haven't added any nutes and your that deep into flower on the talk plant, I'd imagine the soil is depleted of nutrients. If that is the case you wouldnt need to worry about ph of the soil as much as your water/ nutrient solution. Hopefully someone way smarter than me Chimes in here.

5.8-6.2 would be a more specific hydro range. With soil 5.5-6.5ish is grand. As CC said light seems fine. Tag me if you notice a change and if I can't help I'll find someone who can :smokeout:

Day 33

I've increased the amount of water I use at one time slightly until I can see some drip out of the bottom. My thought was to flush a little bit of the extra nutrients out so that the soil is less hot, but still carries enough nutes to support the remaining grow. The leaves seem to be dropping less. It's still not 100% healthy but this is my first grow, I will be happy to have a somewhat average yield. The brown tips of some of the lower leaves was accidental burn caused by a heater a few weeks ago and not related to soil/nutes.

I'm considering dimming the veg spectrum down to maybe 60% next week some time towards the end of week six. Thats supposedly when the pre-flowering stage ends. I read somewhere that continuing to give the plant the blue/green light during flowering increased CBD oils but doesn't necessarily help with TCH production. Not sure if any of this is true.

I'm not sure on the blue light cbd correlation but it could be true who knows? I will say this, your plants are looking incredible! They seem very healthy to me, and with just a bit more dialed in, they will be at their optimal. :toke:Hats off to you , your first grow is blowing mine away. I bet you will have a harvest above what you are hoping so keep it up your doing something right.:pop::woohoo:

Thanks for the encouragement. My jade bonsai is also doing much better since I moved it into the tent.

I took a look at your grow, seems like you got some high quality bud, lots of crystals. I guess you maybe wanted more yield but the way I see it, if you can grow it for less than it cost to buy, then you are coming out ahead.

Hey thank you for saying that! All I care about is growimg my own nugs. if it takes some low potency and low yield to learn then so be it lol. Now's the time to use everything we learn to fully bring the genetic capability of these plants nomsayin? Your doing great and I'm so excited to see the results. I love everything about growing and learning about growing. it is consuming my life, but I love it. I just wish my wife would get over the stigma of loser pothead and try weed someday so she too can start to grow with me. I dont have many friend, too hard to trust them when I have a bombshell wife, so the only people who care about my hobbies are on this forum.
