Hey yall!

Iv got 2 seeds germing right now, waiting to be planted in my backyard. I have one WOS Paki Ryder and one WOS Strawberry Blue. Here in Texas, the summers can been in the 90s to 100s for extended periods in June/July.

From my understanding, the success of any plant outdoors is somewhat strain dependent. I know that the Paki Ryder should be able to deal with the heat since this strain originated in a very hot/humid climate in Northern Pakistan. My question for this strain is: Will my auto do ok in this weather? Since i plan on harvesting (if all goes well) sometime in July, will i need to worry about bud rot? If so, what can i do to counter mold/bud rot?

As far is my Strawberry Blue goes. I have no idea about the climate/origin of that strain. I dont know how it will do and I am looking for pointers/tips. Since this is a photo, I will proabably harvest sometime in August/October (rainy season).

Should I use 5 gallon pots or my 3 gallons? Is it better to plant in the ground or can i leave them in the pots? What about the temp. Anything i can do to ensure success?

I am not a cannabis salesman. I am just sick of shady dealers and unreliable sources. I would like to grow my own so I know EXACTLY what I am inhaling.

TIA

You might find info on the internet. As far as bud rot, unless the climate is rainy or realy humid all the time don't worry. If you can keep the pots watered when it gets hot ,go that way,or put them in the ground and put some mulch around the base of the plants to keep the roots cool and moist.

Thank you sir for your reply!

The humidity in Houston is always between 60%-90% RH all growing season long....am I already screwed before I being...this would suck since I just planted the seeds in my medium...

Actually i did try to search for outdoor grow in Texas but i really did not find the info I was looking for. Im more worried about my SB than I am about PR but I am just hoping for a nice harvest. Nothing special.

I really like the idea about keeping the roots cool. IIRC, a plants success is more dependent on root temperaturer versus actual plant/canopy temperature. I am correct in my thinking? I think I will just bury my 5 gallon pots underground and surround them with mulch like you mentioned. Much appreciated for the advice fellow greenthumber!

The Strawberry Blue is a "Pure Strawberry" crossed with a "New Blue Line" according to world of seeds. I have never in my many years of smoking ever heard of either one of these stains. Any other advice/help/tips is highly regarded.

Well, I killed the SB a couple days ago by dropping the container...root tip broke and my baby withered and died, RIP. I am germing a second seed of SB as we speak so hoping this one goes better.

The Paki Ryder is looking good! 3 days from seed and it is really loving the bright Texas sun. Its been in the mid 70s/80s. Its going to get real hot down here soon. Hoping my babies can take the heat. I will do everything I can to keep her roots cool though. We will see what happens.

The PR popped her head out of the soil on 4/25 under my 250watt CFL indoors. The same day I took her outside in the sun and she has not been back inside since. I really hope I dont kill this one too. I am only trying to grow some decent personal smoke. Not in it for any kind of "profit". I am well educated and have a well paying job. I enjoy the gods green gift just like everyone else as it helps me cope with my stressful life. (I work in Logistics.)

For seedlings:
-Organicare Pure Earth Aeration Soil
-Miracle Grow Perlite (washed off all nutrients)
-Feliz 250 Watt 6500k CFL for germination heat
-RO water
-Texas sun

Here a few pics. Please guys, let me know how shes looking thus far. I am really nervous since I have never tried to grow my own and would like to have some sort of success. Any advice/tips/pointer greatly appreciated.

Your english is just fine my friend! I would love to see your PR baby since she is also young. I would love to compare our plants and hopefully we can both help each other along the way. Please feel free to post a picture. :smokebuds:

.. we can both help each other for sure! :D

I made two pics ,because right now I don't have any camera ,only on my phone and that's a joke .. but I will post later better quality pics ..
.. my goal is a minimum 20g dry bud. That would be enogh for me until my outdoor harvest in september/october.:smoke:pakistan ryder 8 days 1.jpgpakistan ryder 8 days 2.jpg

You should be fine in Houston growing outdoors, as long as you don't have your plants crammed in some corner with no air circulation. A lot of bud rot problems occur when there is little air circulation around the buds.
I am curious about how you will deal with the smell, Two plants will produce a fairly skunkish smell, A lot of people will not associate it with cannabis, but they may want to know where it is coming from.
Growing outdoors in a metropolitan city in Texas seems a little risky to me, you have slugs, catipillars, grasshoppers, heat, drought, rain, neighbors, cops, & thieves and animals as all possible contenders to a successful grow. It can be done, but I prefer more control or at least the illusion of it.

Looking good!! Looks like you are well into the second set of true leaves. My 2nd set just started to develope. I will be keeping track of you grow buddy. Hopefully we can both pull at least an ounce of good medicine! Thanks for the pics!

I really appreciate the advice on the humidy, I have TONS of airflow. I hope you are spot on with your advice!

I am sorry, I should have been more clear. I live on the outskirts of Houston. I live on a nice piece of land that I own. My neighbors are not a concern. I know them well. But they do not know what I am up to. I am not too concerned with the smell as I am planning and hoping to chop the PR well before the SB is even ready to flower. If it stinks...it stinks. I will see what happens when the time comes. If someone gets curious enough, then they can get aquanted with my Smith & Wesson .40. :howdy: We don't play in Texas.

Well, small update. It hit 88 F today and the PR is loving the heat. The baby is now @ day 5 with its 2nd set of true leaves developing. This little girl is getting at least 12-13 hours of direct intense sunlight. Looking real healthy and she is growing fast!

Finally, after a minor setback, my WOS Strawberry Blue has broken ground. Shes a cute little thing perking up @ day 1. I am unsure if I should start her outdoors or give her a few days under my 250watt CFL. I really would like to grow this lady out! Any tips?

I must say, you guys are awesome. Thanks for looking/helping. I hope to be as successful as you guys soon enough! Take care and stay high! :bong:
