New Grower First Grow Newbie! 4X4 RDWC LED CBD

Your light is your biggest investment and generally speaking you get what you pay for. You mentioned an electrician friend, could he not help build a cob or two? There's plenty of guides on the Web. You may also want to look at a water cooler for your nute solution when you had into summer. Nice set up.

Also I definitely don't need a chiller right now as temps are between 1-18°C, but coming into summer, I've got a chiller on hold - correct size/volume, to keep things around 20c. It also heats so would be great now- but budget dictated I got a fish pond Aqua One 200w glass heater for $25

Water chillers are only necessary if you are trying to run a sterile system.
He is using Great White Mycos, so the ideal temp for the water is 22.5C or so (72-73F)
I go one stage further and use the Great White to make a 'Heisenberg Tea' to pour into the system every 2 days, and have an aquarium heater set up to keep the reservoir warm enough.

This is the roots at about day 46 for 2 plants:

Ignore the stain on the roots - that is due to the nutrient stain and not any sort of root rot.

Awesome I love this!

I have the aquarium glass tube heater too for the moment...

What is this tea recipe you speak of?

If I can keep both water and ambient around 22°c I should be ok right?

Thats a nice set up dude [emoji106]
:pass::pass:
Thanks dude! Its only small, but I'm hoping to have all the funky gadgets to make it easier (please ignore the cheap Chinese blurple for the moment [emoji1787])

Also, looks like I'm going to have 3 starters, one runt and one late bloomer.

I thought one wouldn't germ so i popped another one.

Thoughts on putting the runt and the late bloomer in the same net pot?

Additional Nutrients? DWC & Quantum Board - 4 Pots (General Hydroponics)

Any feedback greatly appreciated:)

PS. I don't know how to share properly on the app :-(

I would keep nutrients as simple as possible. Base nutes plus cal mag (and maybe brew tea to prevent root disease) is a perfectly fine formula capable of growing healthy plants. I wouldn't personally use a rez heater as I have seen many ppl use beneficial microbes without one and keeping things as simple as possible will make for less opportunities for mistakes on your first grow.

Genetics, environment and method (in this case dwc) all make a bigger difference in yield than nutrients. Keep an eye on your temps, humidity, pH and EC and you'll be off to a good start.

Good luck!

Subbed up. Pulling up a chair in the front row and having a bit of this:pop:. I love watching new growers fretting about equipment for their new hobby. I did the same thing. About half of the stuff that I bought for the first grow fell by the wayside in the first year or two. Seems like a constant evolution of gear and tweaking your methods to dial in for your space and style. Don't be too disappointed if you don't get it all right the first time. You're in the right place as there are lots of friendly willing to give a bit of advice. But it can be a bit confusing as sometimes the advice can be conflicting. A bit of this:vibes: and this:karmacloud: to get you started.

Heisenberg tea (my variation on it):

7-10 litres water (left out for 24 hours if it is tap water for the chlorine to dissipate)
1 dessert spoon full of Unsulfured Molasses.
1 Handful of Worm Castings
2g Great White.

With the water at 22 - 23C, mix everything and run an airpump/airstone through the mix for 48 hours.
After 48 hours, turn off the air pump and let it settle. Then filter the mixture and use the resulting 'tea' in your reservoir (poured into the mix through the hydroton in your net pots).
Store the tea in a fridge for a maximum of 10 days (you will know when it starts to go off as it will smell like week old Gym socks - normal aroma is just 'earthy').
Pour 200ml into your pots every 2 days and watch your roots develop beautifully.

*You can cut down on having to filter the tea by putting the Earthworm Castings into a pair of tights and putting the airstone in there with it (golfball-type airstone is best for this).

Here is one I have brewing currently:

SIDE NOTE:
I have just changed from Great White to THIS as it is a similar product but MUCH cheaper.
