Things are looking up for Miz Dubya! Unfortunately, not for my pH meter which I just broke!

WAAAAA!!!!!!

I think your over feeding that girl, the wilted leaves and curl with burnt tips, also the 140 ppm increase. That PPM is way too high for that size plant. I'd do a res change with a PPM around 500ish and see how that goes.

My well water starts at 395 ppm pH 7.2 adjusted to 5.8 and I'm running only 1/2 nutes with Dutch Master Zone. She was twisted from the get-go. There are no burnt tips, but there are lots of malformations. The jump was an overnight deal from 1230 to 1110 to 1230 again with no additions to the res, probably the meter or me.

She had a rough start, but she's growing like mad now.

THE SEARCH FOR MIZ DUBYA
(We're going Bushy!)

Thinned the nutes down a touch and lowered the water level a little. She's definitely sucking the water good, but not the nutes. Water level is nearly back to where it should be. I'm using store bought water to thin down my highly calcified well water. I've also raised the lights back to 24" just in case that's part of the problem.

THE SEARCH FOR MIZ DUBYA
(We're going Bushy!)

Ok folks, this is Rumor Control, here are the facts:

After lots of reading and consideration, I've determined that Miz Dubya has a phosphorus deficiency. The dark green, leathery leaf ends, and nearly non-existent root system. Yesterday, I'd added some epsom salt just for shits and giggles to cover the magnesium bases. Today, I start foliar with 2ml/qt GH Bloom in a hand sprayer and will continue until I see improvements in the root system. I've had to remove a couple of the lower fan leaves. The lowers finally began to "limp out", but stayed green mind you, and this is one thing that tripped me onto the deficiency. Dark green leaves leading to necrosis and wilt plus slow-to-no root development.

Still no pH meter and won't be ordering until next week (with the root enhancer). So I'm using the manual method. I'll get the res changed tomorrow when I get back in town.

Note: Never assume someones high ppm is directly related to nutes. There are MANY OTHER THINGS that are added to the res that increases ppm. Hell, EVERYTHING you add to the res, adds to the ppm. Just sayin...

The Highest I feed, during peak flower is 50% of GH reccomended dosage. I start out much, much lighter. Phosphorus deficiency symptom my be seen as a result of lockout from higher feeds. They really don't need as high of feedings as people think. It could also just be the fact that you dont have the digital meter yet. Even a few tenths of a PH point can throw things slightly askew.

I would still cut back the nutes to 25%though, and see if that helps. It's easier to feed a hungry plant than try and reverse engineer deficiencies. There are many potential culprits, because of the varied antagonistic properties of each individual element with relation to all of the others.

It I also good habit to measure the PPMs after each addition to your res. It helps develop a feel for exactly how much of everything is in your res. The majority of my PPM s are from hard water and HEAVY calmag / pH down usage. Tora PPM s are very misleading for that reason, lol you said, and should be taken on a case by case basis.

Sup Skatter!

This is the first res. She was started VERY slowly in a hempy solo cup (look back up through the thread all is there) and then transplanted on day 10. Also, I do have a meter, it was broken a few days ago so I'm using the manual "pool kit" from GH for now. Re: EC, I take ppm's twice a day or more and log everything.

Nutes are already at 1/4 now that I've added some more filtered water to the res. True that on the ppms, everybody's different. Only about 500 of my numbers are nutes. The rest is the epsom salt and the high calcium and silica from the crappy well water and the double-damned pumice grow rocks. The issue is not a burn, the plant was growing like crazy, just not the roots. The leaves are showing those signs of deficiency. What's trippy is that she's all perky in the day until around 7ish in the pm, then she limps out. Same-same every day. A bit of an under-developed root system. She's slowing down now because I lowered the water level to where it should be and cut back the nutes

Hell, I like to reverse engineer shit! I use to work for a commercial horticultural maintenance outfit way back in the day. I love this shit (it just didn't pay well). And troubleshooting is half the fun!

Res change today. This time with store-bought water instead of the crappy well water. We'll see how it lays out over the next couple of days. Added Zone and 1/4 nutes. First root starting to peak out of the 10" net pot. That's a good sign! I was beginning to wonder...

Nice to have the site up! I was gettin' bored!

Miz Dubya's responding well to the res change, so now it's time to up the nutes a touch. She also needed a "trim" to off the defective leaves. Have got new stems from nearly every internode, though I'm hoping the lower ones will pick up the pace a bit. Gonna need the SCROG pretty soon. The roots are really jumping already. The first "peeker" is now about 4" long and another 2" 'er is poking out too. All in 24 hours.

She won't be pretty, but she'll do.

Get an inline filter and it will take out a lot of the junk in your water. they're not expensive, a good one is about $35 with an activated charcoal filter. it will get rid of the chlorine also. After filtering my water is about 125 ppms
