New Grower First Grow: Flash Purple Mazar & 1 Seedsmans Northern Lights Fem Auto

I believe yellow seedling is a ph problem.

That makes sense. I spritzed the soil a little as the sprout was bending out of the soil with water I had ph-ed previously. I double checked last night and the water in my spray bottle had gone a tad acidic. When they all got a watering the other night I used freshly adjusted aerated water. I hope she greens up with the new water in the next couple days. It sounds like I'm overwatering but I'm pretty stingy as a rule of thumb, they're all on the moist to dry side of things.

Thanks a lot, good to have something concrete as a basis for the future.

Day 5

4 of the seedlings are getting their 2nd set of true leaves, in order of which sprouted first. My yellow friend is still stuck. I tested the runoff yesterday and it was crazy acidic, only in the yellow plant. They've all been getting the same water so it's puzzling. I wasn't sure how to correct it so I watered/flushed with some more water a little on the base side. I won't be upset if I lose it but it'd be nice not to. I'll post some pics tonight or tomorrow.

DAY 5 PICS

I added another bulb today. Making 162 watts total (135 w 65k & 26w 27k)

This is the yellow rouge Purple Mazar. I dunno what to do, can't add more water.

These two are Purple Mazar. The first one has a tear in a leaf and a yellow splotch. The other is showing narrower leaves.
(The third Mazar is not pictured, but looks like the first pic w/out tears etc.)

This is the Northern Lights and it is growing like a champ.

If you think it's a better spot sure. I've been cutting and pasting the image code from photo bucket direct to the text box. Should I be using another method. I'm not at all web savvy. I didn't even know that section was there.

TBM, I'll keep an eye out and move it if you're not available.

savoy, at this point, I'm not sure there's much you can do but wait and let nature do it's work. Maybe TBM or Muddy can come up with something. :peace:

TBM: Thanks for moving it around, I'm sure you're right about getting more input and such, but why do I feel like I got seated at the kids table? HAHA. The yellow plant is a goner, it faded to white over the past couple days and shriveled, sad really. I've had the light at 20/4 I think I'll not change it, don't want to stress the crop, maybe next time.

I have a general noob question about PH, I've read up but the info gets pretty confusing.
I have a PH kit with the tester and up/down bottles. Are the baking soda/lemon juice etc the organic alternatives to the up/down bottled solutions? And my party cup runoff is around 7-7.5 as of this mornings watering. I water with 6.5 water, do I need to correct the soil with slightly base water (5.5-6) or is simply using balanced water corrective enough. I imagine since water sitting in a bottle goes acidic in a few days, the same is true of the soil.

Last my northern lights will prob have its third set of leaves when I get home tonight, time to transplant? I also think its time for full power on my lights.

Wow, your Soil PH is high. Just a little PH Info. PH lower than 7 is acidic, and PH higher than 7 is alkaline, or Base. I use white Vinegar for a PH down, as my water is a little on the base side, PH of 7.5, before adjusting. Your party cup grow is a bit to the alkaline side, with a runoff at 7.5 . But I am a newbie as well, and will let someone who is more knowledgeable to tell you what you need to do.

I had the numbers reversed. A PH of 5.5 in the run off. The seedling had like a 4.5!
I gotta read up on ph.

Going to go transplant my Northern Lights and add a bulb.

if you can get your hands on some dolomite lime
1 tablespoon per gallon of soil might solve your low ph
issues..it worked wonders for me.
my soil was watered with ph 6.5 r/o water and the runoff
ph was around 5.0
i flushed each gallon of soil with 2 gallons of distilled water
then added the lime...problem solved
i water with ph 6.7 and soil ph is 6.7
the lime is slow release and acts as a ph buffer
to counter the acidity of the peat in my soil
my :2cents:

Thanks. I look for it. Do you just sprinkle it on the surface after flushing?

Word BM

So the northern lights is big for 8 days I think. 3 sets of leaves.
Here's what I did.

Made a hole around the party cup, enough water for it to hold shape (they just got water this morning)

I was surprised by the amount of root structure!

So I figured I'd better transplant them all.

Also added Lights 232 watts!
Good Times.
