So, I'm on day 5 since they popped, I have one female afghan kush ryder and one female Pakistan ryder, I have them under a 150w red(2700k) cfl and need advice, I am trying just red spectrum throughout to see what the results are, these ladies have been put in a 35 gallon pot so plenty of root space with bio-bizz allmix, I'm going to start feeding some bloom-blastic. Atweek 3, pictures to follow

Welcome aboard, barnsie! AKR and PakRyder are two of my all time favorite strains. This week I pulled out a 3 year old nugget of Pak that I'd stashed away and it still knocked me on my ass. :smoke:

Am I correct in reading thirty five gallon? That's a huge pot & you may have some problems watering properly. As for the lighting, autos really seem to like blue spectrum so you may want to consider adding some.

Yes but I have both seeds in there so it's like 17.5 each, and how many blue would you suggest? I'll post some pics so you can get an idea on my set up, what was your yield like off them? It's my first autoflower grow and am looking for tips, thanks for your response andybotwin :Sharing One:

On the left is the Pakistan ryder, on the right is the afghan kush ryder, these baby's are at day 5 and are looking happy to me, any suggestions?

I got less than an ounce from the Pak but it was my first grow and she was stunted by some pH problems. Still great potency, though. The AKR yielded almost 3 ounces but that was after I had dialed in my setup and had more experience under my belt. Those two strains are very popular around here so there will be no shortage of advice if you have any issues. Here's my take on things:

That huge container will make things more like outdoor growing than indoor in small pots. Hopefully your pH is dialed in already (around 6.5) because it will be difficult to adjust with that much soil. It also looks quite heavy so beware of drainage problems that have the roots staying too wet. Cannabis tends to be happier on the dry side rather than being in soggy soil.

Lighting is basically a more is better proposition. When I grew CFL I got the best results from vegging with 6500K and then adding a bit of 2700K during flower. But the bottom line is once they're past the seedling stage, get as many watts on the plants as possible, especially with CFL. Add them on the sides and anywhere else you can, getting them as close to the plants as possible. They do generate some heat, so get some fans and be mindful of the temps.

Do you have plans for odor control? Both of these strains put out some serious aroma so you should be looking into carbon filters if you haven't already.

The babies are looking good & it only gets better from here.

thank you andy, i am putting more lights in as they get bigger, they seem to be happy where they are, im sure if i delay watering an extra few days it wont get over-watered :help:, i was planning on using 2700k all the way through to see if it matters in autoflower?

the AKR seems to be a lot bigger than the pakistan ryder even though they popped the same day, seems wierd they have nearly identical genetics lol, i cant wait to see what i can do with these beautys, i will be adding 3x auto green poison in the room soon from sweet seeds, anybody heard of them? or grown the? and yes, the smell: i think i will get a carbon filter in the next couple of weeks just in case it gets over powering ;), whats the high like off these babys?:thumbs:

Through my experiments and watching lots of grows on AFN over the years, I think that autos prefer more blue than red spectrum when using flouro bulbs. I've grown some pretty nice plants using nothing but 6500K lights. But by all means do some of your own experiments and see what works for you.

As for the high, both AKR and PakRyder are a heavy, couchlock stone. Be prepared to chill out and not do much of anything other than eating up all the snacks in the house. :smoke:

If you ever need to compare the AKR jump over to my grow of two AKR's. They are slightly different phenos as one is fuller than the other. The smell will be... devestating. I have a carbon filter and a 6" inline fan in my tent that creates negative pressure and I can still smell traces of them when I walk in my house. Ialso have odor absorbers and I am thinking of getting an ozone generator, lol, so DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE SMELL!!! Glad you joined up and keep on the updates!

hello maryjane, i was actually looking through your journal last night, and WOW them little babys were amazing!! and i will be investing in a carbon filter soon, i will be updating pics in the next hour, not really much to report but a bit of growth, i can see it every day now, getting excited :dance2:
