first off just, like to say hello to all my fellow cultivators,
me and my fiancee both smoke for medicinal purposes, she has mental illness and i have chronic pain in my knee from a sporting accident a few years ago, and have had enough of buying terrible smoke at absurd price from street dealers! so after many hours of research and reading decided to grab the bull by the horns and give growing my own a bash!
ive been lurking in the shadows since the turn of the new year reading up, deciding what methods/type of plant/medium/feed etc and have come to a point now where i have ordered my tent,light,extraction and filter, osc fans, and just have a few questions before i commit any further funds to my new hobby!
so far i have decided on autoflower's as they seem a good place to wet my feet, ive found so many conflicting journals/articles/videos on the internet about what medium to grow in and ive narrowed it down to either coco coir or dirt, i know many of the pro's and con's for each and was wondering for a first time grow with only a little experience growing vegetables which one would be a better choice/allow a larger margin for error? my second question is how many plants?? my tent is 1.2 x 1.2 x 2.0, and i have a 5" rvk fan and rhino carbon filter for extraction, 600w hps dual spectrum light (i figure can use all the way through,may purchase cfls/t5 if budget allows) and will be using passive intake . I've read/watched videos of people putting 9-16 in that space and was hoping that someone may be able to help me decide which will produce a) better quality goodies b) the difference in yield. the yield is not the be all and end all id take a night of top shelf quality over a week of b-grade anyday. i would like to achieve as much as possible so i don't have to start another crop for a while maybe somewhere above 12oz would be ideal but again quality over quantity!! so lets say the aim is for 12oz of dry tasty buds, what would you experienced guys recommend for pots? 9 x 10l, 12 x 6l, 16 x 6l or some other option? im going to be using air pots as i am being given them from a friend, and has plenty 10l/6l to spare! im still unsure of strains but have narrowed the choice down to;
sweet seeds - cream caramel
kandy cush
dutch passion -auto mazar
lowlife - blueberry
dutch passion- think different
barney's farm - pineapple express (yes it is because i watched the film lol)
are any of these good choices for a new grower, should i stick to one strain or run a few different types?
is there much of a difference between bio and canna? or is it personal preference? ive not ordered nutes/feed yet as want to choose which medium first then buy accompanying feed and nutes!
the main part where im looking for help is with pot size/plant count, and which strain(s) to go with,il be starting a journal once all final details are ironed out and ready to go!
thanks in advanced for any help/advice and opinions,
happy smoking
