New Grower First AF grow, Northern Lights, Crit Mass, Cr Caramel and Af Kush. Heeya!

Hey JM, thanks dude.

The water I used was ph 6.33. I am testing runoff too, not the actual soils' ph with a probe meter. My tap water(that I leave out and bubble for 24 hours first) is about 7.7 if I remember correctly.
Should I just add my nutes and roll with it, plain BX?
Or still bring it down to 6.3 or so?
And what about when I am not using nutes?

There's 10 mins of my life I'll never get back. Sent me a PM Squid and i wrote you a detailed reply and you box is full. I'm on a phone so it takes longer and Its a pain In the rear to copy and paste on the iPhone to save for later when you clear
Your box. Remember clear your box every couple days and make site it's clear before you PM someone with 5 paragraphs lmao. I'll talk to you later. Hit me up when your clear.

Well wiz has noticed his best germs at 7.0 ph... so it seems that its ideal all the way around... plain 7.0 for seeds... and then as you scale up your nutrient regiment you torque the ph progressively down into the zone.... probably wouldnt hurt to take it to 6.5 though... then in your pots or start cups... use a handful of plain promix for your seed start....

I just roll with it personally... but if muddy reccomends using the sulfur.... do it up.... how bout tryin a side by side comparison for us? :) :smokeit:

wait a sec...wiz is a girl?

@Growbeemon>>>haha. That was funny(the Wiz being a girl bit)

@El Capitino the Man...the Legend>>> Oh so sorry about the inbox being full I had no idea. All cleared now, sir. I'd appreciate a redo, but I understand how that is, man. I'll make sure I keep 'er clear now.

@JM>>> I didn't know about the seed ph, at least in Wiz's experience, of which I hold pretty damn high. That makes sense though.

I'll know more about how low that sulfur will drop the Promix and by how much in a few days after watering and checking the runoff again of my four test cups. But with it already being a little too low really, at least with using ph 6.3 water. Then I think that I will not need the sulfur at all, but Muddy obviously uses it for a reason. Whenever he comes back around I will get his opinion hopefully and sort it all out.
Thanks man.

would it be so hard to believe???? I know that this is a man's world esp the growing scene, but it could be possible, have to admitt It would have caught me off guard

Let me weigh in on this. The use of sulfur to lower the pH isn't a necessity. I prefer to get mine set before I plant but you can let your feed solution bring it down as JM pointed out. I know this is what Jackal does and we've all seen the fantastic results he gets. I think part of the confusion comes from measuring run off. That's something I don't do as I've got a good soil pH tester. I add the sulfur, wet it down with 6.5 pH water, let it sit for 3-4 days and then test the soil pH using the probe. IMO the readings are more stable and consequently, more accurate.

great writeup muddy... I find it takes a while for ph adjustments to show too... and yes, jackal has exceptional results.... I've been debting using a little sulfur just to "range-in" my soil prior to start as well.... hmmm maybe I'll try it...
