Lighting Finally building my COB

One step further!! Frame is built and the overall length is 4'4" which will give the 5 cobs the 12" spacing. This required one bag/8 bolts-washers-nuts...square the frame and tighten all down...whoa its a beast..View attachment 704548
ewww this is gonna be a good one!!! :headbang::slap: wont let me rep...

Prime and paint that angle iron!!!! Pick a color.. :eyebrows:

These are the unknown cob lamps i have ,just showing this as a reference to the grease,it looks like these just had a blob put on and it squeezed the excess out the sides

Be careful not to drive the philips tip through the cob. As for spacing I wouldnt be to concerned. You have a hell of a lot of light going. If it's somewhat even you'll be fine

Haha..i was gonna add to be really careful putting the screws in and tightening them, one mistake and this would be a sure way to start drinking again!!! I found myself being extra careful and will also say that this is not a step you would wanna use a powered driver for, slow and steady with a non-magnetic driver( not sure it that matters),i just chose not to use a magnet driver... Heres the 10 cob mini sun assemblies and a grease shot!!

@BigSm0 ,i will keep what you say about spacing in mind,if the frame is to cumbersome i may make it smaller,,cant use a frame stretcher on this puppy!!:haha::rofl:

Looks like success! Your a few steps away from going permanently blind
Thank You!! I will get as far as mounting the assemblies to the frame tomight,i see a few more things i need to get..A piece of flat alum stock to mount the drivers and j box onto and maybe some chain.I will use the ratchet cables from the HID lamps, then they will be craiglisted away!!

That is A LOT of grease, you want as thin of a layer as you can get, all the extra just oozes out the sides anyway. I use a plastic toothpick with a flat side to spread it as thin as i can wthout actually being able to see the metal through it. Also its easier for me to apply the thermal compound to the actual chip, so you dont have a bunch of extra around the sides.
