ty for your interest guys things start getting fun from this point on
and yes yesterday I changed the light over to the fero3684g with a advertised 255W draw hopefully that will make the trial more fair to a point anyway
as we thought muddy (dont you just hate the way he is always right) im seeing some signs of mg deficiency hopefully its not ph related as I'm running at about 5.8 interestingly I'm only seeing it under the led
Ive chosen to use epsom salts or "carbonato de magnesio" for 1..... because its cheap :) and 2.... I don't think Im lacking in calcium and iron
Im checking the ph of my run off and I generally have an increase in ph of a .2-.3 which may be a little high as I am using 50% perlite I may be losing some of the buffering which is advantageous when using cocopeat
Im starting to realy enjoy the simplicity of using coco and as soon as I have some way of managing the run of to waste (without physicaly draining over a mop bucket) I find myself quite surprised how it suits me and for sure I will be setting up a drip to waste system in the future
as I mentioned before I'm a big fan of NFT but with these little auto ladys It obviously isn't going to work well given the (what I think) the large variance in size between individual plants of the same strain.
anyways thx for chipping in guys I will put up some new photos and a report in about 5 days
Happy tokin

yah i find that if they are autos that you did not breed that the phenos with autos is a little wild. Do a few breeding runs and you will have consistent results like on my pj genetic line now. the other led would be fine as long as you calculate your findings based on grams/watt instead of plant to plant.

LOL, it's just such a common problem growing soil less under LED that I always like to make people aware so they can keep and eye out and address it as soon as they see any indication.

well hopefully I have started that process of with the mi5 as I have 2 mi5's seeding up as we speak next time I will wait until I see what pheno before I fertilize I need to organise a space to keep a male long enough tho as this time it was just a space in between a cupboard and a wall in my bedroom ;) the missus is pretty tolerant but I may have pushed it to far that time :) lol she went on a lot so Ill be looking to invest in a light proof 60x60cm home box for breeding

yeah muddy I know tx for the heads up though I was keeping a good eye out for signs so I was able to catch it pretty early wicked m8 keep on doing what you are doing and I will just listen and take on board interesting how it was only under the led tho......
Im finding this whole grow a wicked buzz. Im a complete noob as far as autos, LED's and coco are concerned it good to learn new techniques it keeps the old mothballs from gathering in the brain
I will be looking at changing my nutes for the next one as well as you know I'm using cannas terra vega/flores which is aimed at soil based plants although to be fair Im not seeing any issues so far (bar mg) It just seems to be missing something is all ?

The way it was explained to me by the people at GLH is that the LEDs are so efficient that they use nutes faster and more efficiently that other light sources, particularly HPS. Kind of make sense when you consider that LEDs supply 95% usable light compared to about for 15% for HPS. The lack of any real nutrients in soil less medium also play a role. I did a side-by-side veg grow between my GLH and a 175 watt MH/four 23 watt CFL setup. While the LED produced slightly bigger plants the ones under the MH/CFLs had a deeper green. Since then I have supplemented a little more N during veg and the plants now look much better.

noticing a perk in the plants today since adding the mg I added a little algae tea as well for a little boost
plants responded well fan leaves very wellllllll perky :)

The Led light plants will have slightly different nute requiements than the HID plants. You will want to increase your N and calcium slightly than what you are giving your HID plants and you should see a difference.

Nice grow going on it will be interesting to watch.

tx guys all of this talk about the led having different nutrient requirements leads me to wonder if any of the feed company will bring out a feed tailored to led systems
I can see for myself that they need a different nute.... this is a fact as I am running identical strains in a comparison and by week 5 it started to become obvious that you guys were right
So what are we looking at cal/mag supplement every water what about the N how often and at what strength would you guys recommend as a starting point for the N as a additive to the standard feed?
thankyou for taking the time
cheers

I give cal/mag with every feeding. I need 1/2 teaspoon just to buffer my rain water, then every other feeding or so, give them an extra half teaspoon. The extra N is something that Scott has noticed. My current grow is the first I'll be adding it, starting next feeding. I'm using the GH Biothrive line, Grow, Bloom and Marine. Usually I only feed the Marine in veg but think I'm going to continue it throughout flowering for the extra N. It's pretty mild, 2-3-3 if I remember correctly. Also watch for P deficiencies, especially later in flowering. I've been adding a half teaspoon of PK13.14 every other watering.
