Fat resinous buds are very prone to it just due to their structure
It is unfortunate that the bud density became one of the essentials for buyers
I really could care less about how fat the colas are. or dense the bud is, I smoke it all just the same.
Fact is smoking a gram of really good dense buds is just as good as smoking really good airy buds- you just got a snoot full of really good bud.
I am always nervous when I see the plants have dense bud structure.
The Auto Pink Grapefruit I journaled here had some of the heaviest resinous buds I have ever grown.
I kept fans on high blowing across the whole plant. it was in constant movement.
It makes the leaves look horrible to have that much breeze on them, but I did not get any bud rot on that plant and humidity was very high the whole grow.
Conversly I had another plant with not nearly as dense bud structure, but still pretty big. The top cola grew out of the path of the breeze, it was moving because of the breeze on the lower part.
got a bit of bud rot in the very top of the cola.
It wasn't terrible, might have lost a few grams over all.
If I find any, I will just start trimming it out until I don't see any more, then I will pretty rudely spread the other buds out away from each other and the stalk as much as possible,
Spritz the hell out of it(read dripping) with H202 and then set the fans on high on them and then keep an eye out.
So my solution, is air movement. It cant grow without really moist conditions. Air moving through the budds is really the only way of doing that.
You can still get bud rot in dry conditions if your plants are respirating a lot and the buds are too dense to allow it to evaporate away.
Generally, I won't have any more trouble at that point
