My hay like harvest from earlier this year
Good morning everyone!

So I completed my chop this morning before the sun came up. I had chopped part of the plant two days ago and was drying in a closet in my house with air flow.

I had to move everything to my shed in my back yard. I know that is not optimal due to high heat and humidity, but that's the best I can do.

I have a fan in there to move the air around, but does this screw up all my hard work?

Ok thank you @arch. I am talking 97 degrees F, 80% humidity in the mornings / evenings.

I'd say the heat and humidity is too high.

But. A couple weeks ago I harvested a photo plant that took me three different days to cut, trim, wash and dry. The second cutting I did from the plant was the largest top colas and some of them were getting bud rot in the size of marbles. I read that to save the rest of the plant that a fast dry should be done, there were likely spores landing everywhere. Before harvest I had hot humid temperatures and rain for seven out of eight days.

I washed in H2O2 solution, rinsed, washed in 5 gallons of fresh water with one cup lemon juice and a cup of baking soda, rinsed. Hung dry for three days in my basement with fans and dehumidifier, bagged for a day or two with fans blowing on it.

Still was very wet feeling to me, I decided to heat my oven to just under 200 degrees F, turned the oven off and put approximately 6 ounces in the paper bag into the oven for a few minutes to reduce the humidity. Then I forgot the weed was in the oven for hours.

When I remembered I knew I had ruined the weed, it felt crispy to the touch. I jarred it up with a hygrometer and a couple of 62 RH packs and checked a couple hours later it showed 42 percent RH. I thought about trashing the weed but considered trying to run it through my bubble bags.

I left it jarred up and the RH rose to 56 after some days. I decided to pull a bud out, ground it up and rolled a joint. I smoked one third of the joint and the smoke seemed pretty smooth for only being a little over a week from cutting and jarring up.

Within five minutes I was wasted. I stayed wasted for over three hours. I smoked that joint over three days and got wasted every time.

I'm planning on using that six ounces, probably five ounces now that I over dried it, I'm going to use it for cannabutter after decarbing it. I believe it is already partially decarbed from the short time the oven held heat under 200 F.

Try drying a small quantity in an oven at a low temperature. just don't leave it too long. It would probably reduce your RH and smell so you can move it back in your house if that is your issue. Break it down to small trimmed buds if you haven't done so, it will dry faster and fit in brown grocery bags to get the humidity down to the point you don't get mold on your weed.

80% is more of a problem than the heat, the heat will cook off turpines, and may convert some thcA. The big problem is your rH. Properly cured is 58-62%. You will not be able to dry past your relative humidity. Major risk of mold. Keep your eyes open. Anything that molds is unusable.

Like above, trim it down and get it in paper bags. These you might be able to toss on a top shelf in a closet inside...maybe with some onno gel.

i dry it brown paper bags i swear by it that may take your heat down inside the bags but i think that heat is so high and you may get mould with that humidity couldn't you dry it indoor in the bags

Both of those temps are way out of the suggested dry temp zones.. 60/60 is something you will hear a lot.. It's the ideal range.. Give or take 5 for either temp. 60% rh and 60 degrees F, with a little air flow. Over 60rh and you're risking/asking for mold.. Especially with thick colas or heavy yielding plants. Higher than 60 degrees F, the buds will start to dry out too fast, which can/will ruin the cure if it happens.. It's a delicate balance, and one of the hardest parts to get right. It's hard to say if your harvest is affected, but I'd definitely try to work those temps down as much as possible. Worst case, you can use the brown bag tech, that way you can get more air flow in there to help with temps without directly affecting your harvest.

Thank you all for the responses. The temp will drop drastically after today. This is greak weather we are having. Yesterday was the hottest day in October ever recorded in my state.

My buddy who grows for a living out in CO said never to cut the buds off the stem, and never trim until fully dried. Not sure why, but I may need to break that rule as I dont want my stuff to mold.

So cut the buds off the stem, trim it up, and put it in paper grocery bags for a few days?
