If you're looking for a way to remove chlorine AND lower your water pH then this is for you:

View attachment 10062

here's whats in it from tip to toe:

hose inserted into bottle cap (I cut the middle of the cap making star shaped cuts and heated the cap with a lighter then shoved the hose in it)

the white stuff is polyester out of a pillow
then comes the activated carbon
last thing is peat moss.

Activated carbon works by removing chlorine and some bacteria/organic matter
polyester is just there to keep things in place
Peat moss works by "acidifying its surroundings by taking up cations such as calcium and magnesium and releasing hydrogen ions."

it works real good gives a fast flow and it lowered pH from 8.5 to 6.5!

P.S: cut it near the bottom --> fill --> make a tight fit by slowly heating the edges you cut --> duct it!

don't forget to make a small drain hole at the bottom for the water to come out!

I hope someone finds this useful, it took me a long time to find a good and permanent way to lower pH in water!(we only got pH down for fish tanks here :D) + its an organic way to lower pH what else could I ask for? ;)

peace.

Thanks I'm glad you liked it, I didn't really invent this idea, I stole it from a fish aquarium filter here: http://youtu.be/4QqAD2DmFaY
Peat moss is also used in fish tanks to induce breeding by lowering the pH (acid turns them on?)

Do you know how long the effect lasts? How often you would have to add peat moss?
