I have "invented" a little baby DWC setup so I could start some new beans while my big buckets are still brewing. My first thought was baby netcups in a large tub, but a moment of inspiration hit while doing the dishes - quartainers!!!! For those who have never worked in a bar/restaurant, this mythical piece of plastic serves as everything from prep storage to "to go" container to bartenders water cup. We use these in our home kitchen as well and love them.
Setup:
baby netcups and airstones were $cheap/million of them on amazon, floraflex line was $expensive/big roll at a local grow store. over my years ive participated in a lot of
hobbies and the calculus on when to support the local store vs the bigbox is always interesting.
after the cut used a little tape to insulate/reflect light:
got a couple new babies brewin already:

hobbyist bred gg4 X notorious THC photoreg (NotoriousGlue) 18 days:
been a rougher start for NotoriousGlue. had it started in rockwool just sitting in plastic hand watering. had trouble controlling moisture and almost lost it but doing much better in the baby bucket. Sour Stomper meeting all my (high) expectations from the "it" breeder, shot right up and looks beautiful.
plan from here is to let my big buckets finish then transfer these. anyone done something similar? general transplant tips?
thoughts on running a whole lifecycle thru containers this small? ive gathered that root restriction can be used as part of strategy for growing big sativas indoors. was thinking i could get away with a durban poison run by flipping to 12/12 way way early and then down to 10ish hours of light once they settle.
