Update:

This plant is doing well. Good color and good growth so far. Water with RO about once a week right now. As you can see, this thread should be mostly pictures. Still, should be interesting to see just how well, a simple grow can go.

Good luck, what light are you using and what schedule? How high?

I have a 300 watt Mars Hydro LED and a 900 watt generic LED that is spilling over into this plants area also. Because I don't have room elsewhere, all my autos, not in cabs, are on a 12/12 cycle right now, till my big Durrty Cheese finishes in about a month.

Good luck !

I'm at my first grow now. Although at first I had the idea "to start cheap, nothing fancy, and just be OK whatever yield I pull off" , I ended up buying lots of things and spend much more than I thought.
So it will be fun to see your cheap grow and compare with others.

I'm not sure if your lights are cheap though...:)

Take care.

Well, I just added the 900 watt light to the room. But the pair of 300 watt MarsHydro LEDs only cist me $204 shipped for the pair. Heck, you can't even get a 400 watt MH / HPS for $100. I figured it as $0.00 because I already had this light. But there are cheaper ways, and I'm not the first person on here to nuse what I'm describing next.
In one of my cabs, I have a DIY growlight. Its built from everyday light sockets( $1.87 each ) I use a mix of 15 watt LED spotlights and CFLs. To save money you could use just the CFLs, although the spotlights can be had for around $6-7 each. I got mine via ebay auction. the average price I paid for them was less than $4.00 each. So my DIY light could cost as little as $12 for 6 sockets ( I use 8 right now ) and 2-4packs of CFL will cost about $20 so you could light your grow for less than $35. I've used a 105 watt CFL and concluded it was good for seedlings and clones, but really was no more effective than using 2-3 23 watt CFLs.

Hope this helps.

Are the mars lights the 'reflector' series? Is that 300w actual draw?
