New Grower Dinafem White Widow XXL

Day 5:
Just a little photo update. Only 5 days above ground and looking ok to my untrained eye. If you see anything that looks odd please let me know!

Looking good there bro!:headbang:
How you like the light?
So far so good! Not really sure how low to bring it, so have been dropping gradually since they popped. Started at 36” now down to 30” and they don’t seem to have an issue.

Also like the fact that I can see them properly vs how they looked under my blurple!

I got mines at 24" from the tops. They just love the light!!

Day 19:
So I’ve done some LST (maybe a little early, let’s hope it doesn’t cause any problems). But I do seem to have some sort of issue. Both girls have some leaves curling under at the sides of the leaves. Wondering if this is light stress or an N overdose as I just started adding 1ml Algamic and 1ml fishmix per litre to their water. I’ve raised the light about 4 inches to 28”. And I’m going to cut out the nutes for the next few waterings to see if they recover. Really hope I haven’t screwed them. Any advice appreciated.

The color looks perfect, no obvious deficiencies, so I suspect a watering issue, but you will get better advice from someone more experienced. I will be interested to hear what they say.

Me too, pretty sure it’s just my lights being too low. It’s a new light for me, first qb, so a bit of trial and error with the height

Yeah, I think I have been fighting a bit with light distance on my first grow with my diy LED setup. They are a bit hotter than I anticipated, at least they are if I have been reading the symptoms correctly.

I don't see any signs of heat/light stress in your pics though. You do not have any sign of tacoing or leaf tips pointing toward the light - the leaf edges are turning away from the lights which is the opposite of the typical reaction to excess heat or light.

I am still a bit suspicious of a watering issue given that some of the leaves may be drooping a bit. As you note however, the drooping tips could be the beginning of nitrogen toxicity, but until the tips burn a bit, the jury will be out for noobs like me. Another possibility, but another I am new at, is early calcium/magnesium deficiency before color changes develop. At this point, there is nothing in the color pattern consistent with such deficiency, but as I understand it, leaf distortion can be part of that picture.

In any case, I doubt that you have done any serious damage so far. If they do not perk up with growth you are happy with soon, I recommend that you start a thread in the infirmary section and someone with more experience will help you. Please fill out the form to give reviewers all the information they can use.
