Welcome all! This is my second indoor grow. Started with some Red Poison and Blue Amnesia, but was gifted some freebie OG kush photoperiods, so let's see what they can do.

Base medium/nutrients:

Roots Organic Soil
+ Humic acid
+ Fulvic acid
+ Kelp meal
+ Alfalfa meal
+ Hydrofarm bat guano (N & P)
+ Earth Juice Rainbow mix pro (bloom)
+ EM-1 Microbial inoculant
+ Alaskan forest humus
+ Molasses
+ Organic rye flour
+ Mycorrhizal

I'll be using nutrients as called for but so far have maintained vegetative growth with applications of fulvic + humic acid, kelp meal and EM-1 microbial inoculant. I try to mix the final solution to be an orange to light-amber shade tea before feeding, except for the first week in which I started with very small amounts of kelp and fulvic and humic acids.

Reverse Osmosis water - sure wouldn't drink the tap water here, don't want my girls to either :)

These girls are potted in 5 gal air pots

Illumination:

2* Citizen 048-1212 4000k 80cri COBs running at 1400mA or 50W; mounted to Arctic 11 Plus heatsinks
+
2* Citizen 048-1212 3000k 80cri COB running at 1400mA or 50W

Started with the 2 4000k 1212s for veg.

The plan is to run 4* 048-1212s off one HLG-185-1400A driver. It's pushing it on the voltage but I think the meanwells can handle it and they can be dimmed slightly if needed.

Added two 048-1212 3000k cobs but had trouble getting any light out, after hours of resoldering connections, diagnosed the problem to be one of the COBs. Either burnt it out while soldering it or just did a lousey soldering job. Either way, removed one of the 3000k COBs until a replacement chip can be installed.

So currently running 2* 048-1212 4000k and 1* 048-1212 3000k. The plan is to veg for a couple months then come flower, add a whole nother COB fixture for a total of 8* 048-1212 COBs, or 400W MAX

The heatsinks run cool to the touch. I am using 85 CFM Delta muffin fans because the Arctic heatsink fans blow out every time I try to wire one to a power supply. Running 5V vs 9V makes almost no difference in heatsink temperature, these cobs run cool.

Early on I did have some problems with the power supplies being used for the fans. I guess I was running more amps than they could handle, and came to the tent to find some blazing hot heatsinks, cobs still running. I think the heatsinks handled the heat pretty good though, I almost think you could run these passively @ 36W each with a breeze blowing over the heatsinks, but I have no interest in doing so, the air current provided by the COB fixtures makes a perfect subtle breeze for the ladys.

Have been foliar feeding fulvic acid with great success (I think)

would like to add a couple things. for ventilation I am using a 6 inch inline duct booster fan. They are cheap, suck a lot of air and will work well enough with a homemade carbon fabric filter.

Using a variac to throttle the speed of the fan. Was going to get a speed controller but read about how they work by turning the fan on and off rapidly, and the buzzing that results. Determined a variac to be a much more fit solution than a 3 speed controller. Smaller variac for about $45 works great with two of these fans.

The other is that I have been dealing with fungus gnats for a while from the Red Poison/Blue Amnesia grow. They have really multiplied lately in the OG tent but I don't really see any signs that the larvae are harming the roots. I've been applying mosquito bits, first by dumping a thin layer over the substrate, but this really doesn't do the trick. I've began soaking the mosquito bits and am applying the bacteria with each watering. I haven't really seen any larvae in the OG's soil like I have with Red Poison and Bue Amnesia.

The bottle says to call poison control if contacted with skin, but I don't really buy it. Has anyone worked with mosquito bits? My understanding is it's just the Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis bactiera, is this specific bacteria a hazard where you must avoid all contact with it or is the label just being a bit on the cautious side?

Rather than buying more mosquito bits, would anyone recommend any tips for culturing this bacteria for further use?

Last night I mixed and sprayed a solution of lemongrass and rosemary oil (4 drops lemongrass, 2 drops rosemary, 8oz h2o) onto the soil and there are significantly less fungus gnats this morning.

There's actually a bunch of dead fungus gnats on the floor of the tent, I first saw them there last night, not sure if this resulted from the essential oil spray or not. Either way, it seems to be helping.

loving that setup bro!

It's been a little less than a month since spawn. Topped the main node about a week ago and just topped four nodes on each plant this morning.

Looking really REALLY strong. You have a good program running. And I am in love with the Cobs. Gonna have to watch thins one as it grows. Keep going!

Like you need my encouragement to do that.

Your encouragement will recipricate through the plants! thank you!

Definitely an improvement over my last attempt using cococoir and excess teas.

Soon will have another Blue Amnesia running, this time in an autopot with Roots soil, so that should be a good one.

Beauts already!!! Wishing you the best through your grow!! (Subbed)

Thank you Burr! Must give credit to the soil :p

Finsihed the fourth cob today. I don't think the other chip burnt out, I think I melted the laminate over the connection which is why it wasn't working, because I did the same today, but got it working this time. Smaller soldering wire seems to be favourable though my technique could be improved.

2x 048-1212 4000k 80 cri + 2x 048-1212 3000k 80 cri

I love this color combination, it balances the blueness of the 4000k and reddness of the 3000k and gives a natural look.
