db003 first try at making seeds

hey everyone its me db003 back at again playing mad botanist.

its day 21 of flower for the female turned male plant and I took a few pods that looked kind of ready to see I there was any pollen and I am glad to say that there was its not a lot but its working so I have high hopes. I will be watching the plant over the next week or so to pluck off pods that are ready as they appear.

I also transplanted the two plants that I plan to pollinate with this pollen from 3 gallon fabric pots to 7 gallon fabric pots today talk about a pain in the butt lol but I got it done.

once the female plant turned male is done dropping pods i will put the other 2 plants in flower and be ready to start my seed journey.

hey everyone its me db003

its been a week since my last update since then I did a few things

1. I put the plants I plan to pollinate in flower starting on mothers day so these plants are now in day #5 of flower.

2. a few days ago when I was watering these plants I did some defoliating on these 2 plants they needed it bad I just kind of let them go wild in veg but its all good a little trim here and there and they looked a lot better.

3. I chopped down my reversed female plant yesterday and collected a bunch of pollen sacks and put them to dry on a clean plant saucer that I use when I trim my plants. I wanted to cut the reversed plant down before the other plants got to far along in flower since I only want to pollinate like 2 or 3 branches each plant so I still have some bud to harvest since these are my only plants I have growing right now.

4. I just watered these plants today and did some good old fashion low stress training on them to help open them up a bit and thats about it.

I still have no idea if the pollen I collected will work or not I just have to wait for it to dry out and put in a jar until I am ready to put some pollen on these plants when they are ready.

like I said this is my first time trying to make seeds so fingers crossed.

well I got the reversed female plant to grow pollen sacs so I will take that part as a win. now I just need to see if the pollen works I have hopes it will I just hope I dont screw it up and pollinate the whole plant by accident but even if I so I still get what I wanted.

the first ten pictures are before and after pics from a few days ago when I defoliated them.

the next two pictures are the reversed female plant right before it got chopped and stripped of a bunch of those pollen sacs.

the last three pictures are from today after I low stress trained them.

hello to anyone reading this

I collected the rest of the pollen earlier today from the reversed female photo plant and a I happy to say I was able to get a few small vials worth. I just bought a thermos and some desiccant packs from amazon so I can store the pollen in once it gets here. I plan on diluting some of the pollen with some heat treated flour tomorrow wish me luck :stir:

I just got done watering my two flowering photo plants and they are looking great they are in day #9 of flower they are responding very well to the low stress training I did on them so that good to see.

p.s. dog hair get in to everything even my pollen. I am pretty sure its half dog hair by now. lol

hey everyone its me db003

I am back playing mad botanist I never got around to mixing the pollen with the heat treated flour so that was a fail :crying: I did at least remember to store most of the pollen that I collected in the thermos with some desiccant packs I bought from amazon.

its day #15 of flower and I just chose and dusted some of the bud sites on my two photo plants I used some binder clips to mark what branches that got pollen and I also watered them since its hot as hell.

I turned off the fan inside the tent and the exhaust fan and used some of the left over pollen that was still in the jar after I collected it a few weeks ago. I used a paint brush to dust the bud sites I chose 3 branches on each plant so 6 in total and branches that were close to the front of the door of the tent so I can easily monitor them.

I only dusted the top 3 bud sites on each branch so it would be the main top bud at the very top and the two lower bud sites right under the main top.

I only turned on the exhaust fan for now I will turn the inside fan back on tomorrow night when the light come back on.

I will check on them tomorrow when I turn the fan back on lets hope it works

hey everyone its the one and only db003 I did a few things to the plants today but it took forever but I got it done.:yay:

I checked on the buds I attempted to pollinated 4 days ago and it looks to be working but thats just my guess some of the hairs and turning brownish I still had a little pollen left in the jar so I turned off the inside fan and I hit them again with what was left. I will leave the inside fan off until tomorrow when the lights come back on.

next I watered them and did the last round of defoliation on these plant since they are in day #20 of flower today. in hindsight I probably should have done the defoliation first before I dusted the buds with pollen but whatever if I get a few extra seeds it wont matter its still a win well thats if this works at all.

I also lollipopped them and took two clones from each flowering plant from the very bottom of the plants. all I did was stick them in some plain potting soil in some solo cups that I watered and put them in my 2x4 tent on 18/6 which I still need to clean out after the reversed female plant was in there but got lazy and forgot to do.

at his point all the work is done with these plants all I have to do is water them and watch them grow and hope my first breeding project works.

I took some pics of the some of the buds I hit with the pollen and some before and after pics of the defoliation and the clones.

You are going to have more seeds than you are going to be able to use any time soon! My seed run was great with a fraction of the pollen that you got!

hey everyone I am sorry about lagging on the updates on my plants they are still alive even thought I have been forgetting to water them every now and then I watered them tonight and still can not tell if they have any seeds or not I will just have to wait till after I harvest them.

the plants are in day #49 of flower and are bending all over the place I used some old plant yoyo's to help support the branches as much as I can with the yoyo's I had they look ok and smell great.

they still have a while to go I will try to stop being lazy and take some pics of them.

more good news it was a vendor day event at a local hydro store. so me and my mom went I got some good deals and bunch of free samples I managed to get a buy one get one sale on a new soil from botanicare called Organicare True Earth Potting Mix it was 12 dollars a bag plus tax so I bought 4 and got 8 bags so that was a great deal. there is more info on there website about the soil the ingredients are Sphagnum peat moss, processed forest products, perlite, compost, fertilizer, and yucca extract.

the soil stinks to high heaven kind of like manure and is smelling up my SUV something viscous until I can put in the garage hopefully tomorrow morning before I go bowling tomorrow. so I dont smell like a poop farmer all day  I plan on using some of the bags of soil to use as a base to make some super soil soon so more info on that later.

I also bought a bag of root riot plugs and a tray and dome plus a bag of worm casting for my next batch of super soil I got two pair of free hydrofarm curved titanium trimmers for spending over 75 dollars which is awesome because I needed some new ones.

there was also some seeds vendors but I spent all my money on soil and stuff so I just let them do there thing and to my surprise my mom bought some reg photo seeds for 30 dollars for 10 seeds and got a free hat plus a 4 pack of some other free seeds and she bought a apple fritter clone for 20 dollars that I did not even now she got it until the end of the event.

the clone had no roots and was in a zip lock baggy so when we got home I tossed it in a root riot plug and put the plug in a solo cup with some soil and put it in my new dome and tray in my empty veg tent which I was so glad I bought because it would have been dead for sure otherwise its wilted as hell so I hope its survives.

:vibes: :growing: can't wait to see the end result of this plants and what the offspring can bring out
