I would prob go rockwool cubes or root riots in a cloner then when roots start showing put into pebbles in the aero system. But i only grow hydro.
@witchyhour uses aero systems quite a lot wait for her 2 cents to be sure

thats some set up youve got there mate. does it not reek your house out with not using a tent? im in the attic aswell and wouldnt mind expanding a bit but i really cant have any smells comming down. i was about to try the sandwich tub idea today to pop a big bud. was trying to think of the easiest way to germinate and thats what i came up with. has it got a good success rate?

Thanks guys. Looks like the Nutriculture people say clay pebbles too....I think it's them who make the Amazon Aeroponics system and the NFT systems I've got too.

Smell.......aye.....that lassie with a nose like a sniffer dog up the street moved out when I just had one carbon filter on the main extractor so now I have a 2nd one just scrubbing the air within my attic. Complaints were made and bum cheeks flapped but somebody else was getting the blame so I carried on a bit more carefully

Since switching to the food tub and root riots I've had, at last count, 19 out of 19 seeds germinate and those seeds have been from 3 different sources. A couple of them have been a bit wonky but I guess that is par for the course and at the very least is still better than I was doing trying to germinate in 1" rockwool blocks.

I use Root Rooters (not sure the name is right, it's by General Hydroponics), and then clay pebbles. I do DWC as well. Hate the cubes, would never use them.

Using laptop tonight, I hate it!

haha just blame it on the neighbour aye, brilliant. doubt my neighbour would say anything if she noticed but think ill stick to tents for now. ill suss something out.
good stats on the tub method though. just had my first falier out of 17 in towel/baggy method. it was surprisingly heartbraking lol

Thanks Witchy. I'm coming around to not being too keen on the rockwool either as it's a pain to prep and still likes to unsettle my res when I put new stuff in.

They way I see it I was sort of doing them both a favour as the one getting the blame was having all night parties so letting little miss goody-two-shoes think it was weed they were into maybe wasn't such a bad thing.

Better keep those fingers crossed for the dark devils too and hope that you get a bushy pheno out of the deal lol I wanted bushy and ended up with two 20" + buds on a stick

In soil I'll settle for alive until I chop them:smoking:

The 2 DDAs I grew in NFT were lanky ones too. Same with the 3 Red Poison Autos but a few inches taller.....prolly 5' even after trying to bend the buggers away from fans and lights

RPA on the right next to a plant that was 44-48" (can't remember exactly)....

And a DDA I didn't bend as much as the first....more sort of spread out a bit and held up by the net rather than SCROG.....

NB the soil effort in the bottom right of the above pic......the aeroponics system to start them is hopefully a bit like a golf handicap for grower error 'cos I'm shit with soil not because I'm trying to break or set strain records.
