I have quite a bit of yellowing on the small plant back left. Do you think these are issues resulting from the overwatering early on or something new? A deficiency?

The dead stuff looks like it's from before and not new issues so you're good there. I'd probably just use my hands to pull off the dead parts. I wouldnt defoliate too much at this point with this specific plant due to its size and the issues youve had with it. I do notice what appears to be an mg deficiency on the leaves that are turning lighter green with the darker green veins. Not 100% certain but thats what it looked like on some of my plants here recently.

How much defol do you do on young plants like this and why? I’m trying to understand the “science” of defol so I’m curious.

Yeah it has dolomite lime in it. Additionally it is in grow big and tiger bloom. Could possibly be excess instead of not enough. Have you fed this one at all yet or is it still riding on the soil as nutrients?

I fed them for the first time a week or so ago. Will probably feed again ~Friday.
