Gooooood morning AFN!!!!

I don't have overly strong opinions on it, but I do know that some auto strains take longer and grow bigger on average than others. Best example I've seen was when I had a Sweet Seeds Devil Cream Auto and a Dutch Passion Automazar going side by side starting at the same time. The Automazar took 2-3 more weeks at least (from what I remember...don't remember exact days off top of my head) to start switching to flower than the Devil Cream did, and produced a much bigger plant. Both had the same size pots, same environment, same nutes, etc..etc..etc.. So I could maybe see calling a longer vegging, bigger growing on average strain a superauto.

The big problem I see, though, is that because there is no standard or actual measurement that every breeder would use to define what makes one super and one normal, it just becomes breeders opinion in the naming, and basically marketing fluff. Similar to all the XXL strains.

*shrug*

Would you guys have any interest if I were to see if we can get all the breeders on AFN, the indie's and the commercial breeders, together for a group topic discussion about it? The state of the seed industry in general. The state of the breeding industry, marketing stuff, etc. I would think there'd be some hot topics to talk about it, especially in light of the Josie Wales thing and Gorilla Glue [HASHTAG]#4[/HASHTAG].

Would you guys be game for something like that? Then we'd have industry guys giving us professional opinions on top of our back-and-forth discussions.

this would be nice to get some information from the professionals about this.

I did, thank you for replying! I totally hear your points man; I just think based on what we've all discussed here (myself included, at the end of the day I'm just a guy behind a computer/phone trying to form educated opinions like everyone else) it's still pretty subjective. I mean I get the explanation part of it (I don't necessarily agree with it.) The necessity is the part I don't get. I don't think it's necessary; the "super auto" name for autoflowering genetics that have a longer veg/flower (why not just say on the strain info that it has a longer veg/flower? The "super" part could be ENTIRELY skipped and we could just have information on veg/flower time. My point was that I think the "super auto" term seems more like a marketing thing, not an actual scientific phenomenon. So what if an autoflower has a longer veg and flower time? What if I start breeding and I come out with a strain that finishes around 90+ days, do I have the right to start coining it as a super auto? It's marketing

I've made my case about the semi-auto in a previous post

YES! This man has got IT ladies and gents! And there needs to be some standards for SURE. I've often wondered how they come up with the THC percentages, is that POTENTIAL THC, is that the highest level it tested out of 10 tests, etc etc. We're truly taking people for their word with some of this stuff.

Dang i was listening to Summer and got a few pages behind.... The Artist Formerly Known as AutoFlower

I would offer these word of advice " when your growing autos if it works for you than it's okay "
Well I'm on my first grow so I'm just now learning what works best but I'm better prepared now then I was a few weeks ago thanks to this community. I think once I get this tent and a new light I might enter into my first grow battle.
