Hey Frank Thanks for the input . I've been germinating in paper towel as well without problems . I seemed to be screwing up a lot at the seedling stage ??? I get them going and then the wheels fall off . I'm Pushing too hard instead of taking my time . I thought the heating blanket would move things along a little faster instead of letting Mother Nature do it's thing. I keep jumping from one thing to another like a man on a mission instead of relaxing and enjoy the ride . One of these days I'll get it . Maybe !! Possibly !! or never . :nono:
One other thing I have been doing lately that has been making a world of difference is adding fresh aloe vera to the water I soak my seeds in...then I use that water to moisten the paper towel. Without doing this method, after 24 hours I usually have a tiny tap root just starting out of the seed.....when I use the aloe....after 24 hours that tap root is around an inch long most of the time. THe grocery store sells a stalk of aloe for two bucks....I just cut a piece off, and squeeze a few drops into the water.

Will need to try that..been hearing good things about aloe and getting roots to grow faster...adding to water while its still a seedling with amazing results.

Maybe I'll just snip a few of the landlady's . These get watered once a week whether the like it or not . She laughs at me with my COB lights and my nutrients and indoor grow room and the hundreds of dollars I've spent on this that or the other thing . :haha:
What a pathetic human being I am . :condom:

For what it's worth, I don't use the heat mats until the seedlings are in rooting cubes and I put them in a humidome with the ends cracked slightly open.. I do the typical moist paper towel in a baggie, I fill the bag with air and set it on either the cable box or on top of my HPS hood, but with a piece of cardboard in between so it doesn't get too hot..

fresh aloe isnt available here but willow tips are..........anyone used them in hydro?

Indolebutyric acid (IBA) is a plant hormone that stimulates root growth. It is present in high concentrations in the growing tips of willowbranches. By using the actively growing parts of awillow branch, cutting them, and soaking them in water, you can get significant quantities of IBA to leach out into the water.
