Last cheapo rod I bought, I cast out and the thing broke in 2 sending half of it down the line into the sea

Then as I frantically tried to reel it back in, the housing holding the reel in place broke away from the body of the rod so it was spinning around as I was trying to use it

My mate thought it was hilarious. I wasn't amused at all!

Great feeling when you catch your first fish though dude. Hope you manage to get at least 1

Then they feel bad because they look at it everyday and don’t do shit. They know they should.. but they never do

Oh yea...I pick up trash on my daily hikes through the woods. People are despicable with the amount of litter they throw around

Without getting into it...I had a fairly fucked up childhood. No hunting, or fishing....or other things you learn as a kid. Since moving up here to Maine, I've been getting a little interested in fishing. We'll be spending some time in a cabin on a big lake in the middle of Maine....so I figured it would be a good time to give it a shot. I bought a cheapo rod and reel a few weeks ago. I expect to interact with zero fish.

I'm right there with you, learning how to ride a bike inside a 2 bedroom apartment that 11 of us lived in lol

I couldn't imagine....

We at least lived way out in the country.....so I spent all of my time outside, away from the house. There were endless farm fields as far as the eye could see...and each one had a dirt road around it...and they were all interconnected. I put in the miles on my bmx bike.
