ah so you just let them sit in the pots and dry out for a few days before you cut them? that might be worth a shout...i just dont water for a couple of days before trimming...im glad people have said its not just autos as i was gonna be disappointed! i will see how this next run goes...got some dinafem fruit auto, gonna do some more 3 bears og and sour livers...got plenty of others to try though...did stock up on HSO's black friday though...got some killer photo strains i wanna try, the lemon kush headband is really appealing to me!
No

Chop hang dry trim.

Not meaning dry out soil/medium.

Although that might play into it some? Food for thought anyway. But not what i was meaning. I was meaning dont trim the buds wet. Not dont chop the plant wet.

I grow both and you can't tell my autos from my photos. If your autos smell and taste like hay, you need to review your grow protocols as there is no reason for any cannabis to taste that way, other than no/improper cure. I've grow at least 60 strains of autos, not one has ever tasted bad. And I'll match my Blue Dragon to just about any photo period for potency. She's every bit as potent as the Blueberry Headband she was bred from.

thanks matey! hopefully your tag will be enough! and to everyone else....

basically ive only ever grown autos...done a fair few runs now, tried red poisons (1st grow so went bad), blue kush (went much much better) then i did 3 bears og and orange cracks, then some chemdogging and stilton specials and a NCH....but ive always been disappointed with the taste and smell from the buds after they have been grown usually waiting till i get some amber heads as i prefer cloudy, i wet trim then dry them slowly for 7-10 days and cured for a month or two...they havent shown any deficiencies apart from a few little ones apart from my first couple of grows...i did have to flush at 4/5 weeks due to calcium/salt build ups due to my shocking tap water...i grow with organic nutrients so they would then take a while to build up after this flush but they have never shown deficiencies after this point....

but i did a photoperiod grow, and the smell and taste of these buds are just on another level...blew any autos ive done out the water...i mean the autos did the job and were a good smoke but they dont have that same smell taste and appeal as the photos...i did switch to using RO water and supplementing with cal/mag which may have made all the difference for this grow as the photos didnt require a flush which would wash anything beneficial out of the soil...but im after someone who grows photos and autos to give me a clear answer on photos vs autos...and will my autos always have that same woody, hay like smell and not have much taste when compared to the photo periods?

Ash, If I had to do it over I would get the same Apera pH and EC meters, but I would have gotten the kit with all of it in one package. I think it saves some cash if you need both. I love both meters, hardly any maintenance involved with them, and they come in a hard case with calibration solutions and batteries even.
Its on my list. And i like the ice chest idea. Except i dont have an ice chest lol. But i can work with that logic though. And figure something out lol.

No hanging whole. Cold temps makes processing less of a rush. I'll cut up into big pieces, hind legs/rump, front legs shoulder, back/ribs/neck. I leave the hide on to slow the freezing and prevent some "freezer burn". I'll be cutting and hanging some in the cabin for dry meat real soon.
usually not such good hanging weather here, it sure is nice when its colder and dryer
