When u say railway plot, do u mean close to railway lines? I got 1 running near me if that’s the case.
Disused railway. Literally the RK62 are nestled between the rails and wooden sleepers. Nearly all my current plots are on or near disused railway land. Wouldn't grow by an active railway, maintenance workers cut down vegetation regularly.
Problem with railway plots is the granite chippings. Difficult to dig down to the soil underneath.
Tonight finally managed to plant out the auto girls that are in full flower.
Because I was up against it time wise, I had to combine two activities in one visit: final plot prep and planting. This was a bit challenging for two reasons:
- The flowering autos had grown quite tall, so I had to fashion extra tall "bottles" ro transport them.
- The soil is full of stones, so I took some compost/coco mix with me, as well as water.
Luckily I had figured out last visit that I could lock the bike up nearby, so humphing the massive rucksack (with about 40 litres of soil, plus 10 litres of water in it) was not quite so tricky.
The numerous stones made digging quite a lot of work. More suited to a fork than a spade, then clearing loose stones out of the holes with a trowel. A few scoops of compost/coco mix in each hole, then plants watered in. I made some stakes from tree branches that I cut last visit. I planted all the autos as they're all flowering away: two Mandarin Panties Auto, two Thunder Banana Auto, a Nightmare and an Outdoor UK Auto, plus a couple of Super Kush clones. Eight plants in total. I'll plant out the semi-autos, plus a Joshua clone, next visit.
It all took a bit longer than I thought. Also I forgot to take my bloody pegs, so that and the light fading meant I couldn't get cages around the girls, they just fell over. Obviously quite risky to leave them like that with no protection, but I'd still have been at the plot past midnight if I'd tried to bury the cages to keep them upright. I did pee around the perimeter and in-between the plants to try and deter any animals that might pass that way...
So a bit half-arsed all round really. Autos in full flower planted outside with no cages. Ah well, hopefully get it all sorted next visit.

Mini-update on the Auto Ducks, and some pics. Visited them yesterday, Day 45, gave them a feed. The two big girls were topped on Saturday, so wanted to see how they were getting on. They seem to be doing just fine, possibly slowed slightly after losing their tops. The smaller girls are starting to catch up, but as explained previously they don't get as much direct sun so they're a bit slower overall. But it's all good so far.
Planted out the semi-autos last night, plus a couple of clones. Also took another 10 litres of water to the plot. I was pleased to note that the girls I left unprotected last time have not been harmed by man nor beast. However a couple of Thunder Banana Auto had been blown over, so needed tying to stakes.
So after planting out another six girls this plot now has the following growing:
2 x Thunder Banana Auto
2 x Mandarin Panties Auto
2 x C99 x Blueberry Fast
2 x Super Kush clone
Triton Biscotto Lime clone
Joshua clone

I’ll take a few days’ rest, then it’s on to the main photoperiod plot…

Hoofin' all that gear, you must be in top shape! Water is heavy as heck to lug around.
Does having a lot of plants in one area contribute to a higher risk of someone being able to smell it?

The run with soil and water was fairly tough. Just water is a bit easier. I find the most stressful bit is carrying plants to the plots...
You're right about smell, but there's not a lot until fairly close. Nobody lives near this plot. Nearest neighbour is the recycling centre, next nearest is the sewage works. So there will be plenty of strange smells about...
Did another water run along the railway plots this evening.
I'm pleased to note that all the plants are doing just great. Even the wee Short Term Amnesia that was severely topped (probably by a fox) is recovering and growing away. Pretty happy that most seem to be thriving. Majority of autos are now in early flower, just the semi-autos are still vegging. There's been no repeat of the cages blowing / being knocked over, which is a bit of a relief.
Another month to six weeks and some of the autos might be ready to harvest!
A few pics, some camera shake on a few but evening light is tricky to photograph in using a phone... Anyway hopefully gives an idea of how things are going.
Slaughtered Lamb
Bit of lower leaf dieback, they've been nibbled by something. Otherwise healthy if a bit small.
Outdoor UK Auto
Bit of a Lowryder style auto this. Still, looks healthy enough.

Hasn't grown that much since last visit, pacing herself maybe. About 40cm high. Some signs of early flower.

This girl's getting quite tall - about 70cm at the moment. No sign of flower yet, so she may well get larger still.
Mandarin Panties Auto
Another tall girl, again not flowering yet but can't be far off.
Nightmare
This lady is not quite as tall as the other two, and definitely in flower. Apart from a few yellowing leaves lower down she appears to be thriving outdoors.
Thunder Banana Auto
She's stayed fairly small, might make to 60cm eventually I suppose. Early flowering in progress.

C99 x Blueberry
She's about 45/50cm tall, no flowers yet and looking lush so I expect she may stretch a bit still.
Short Term Amnesia
The two undamaged girls are flowering, they're not exactly tall but doing just fine. The damaged plant in the middle is fighting back, good to see how tough this strain is.

Steady progress from this quartet and they are all girls! What are the odds? They've stayed relatively short but I have a feeling this strain could get big with enough soil per plant.
Seem to be three distinct phenos there, which is interesting.
All very encouraging I must say. We have a week of blazing sunshine and warm temperatures ahead, hopefully the plants will love it.

Plants look good. Tough conditions out there. I can see all the rocks and rubble you had to deal with.
