Had a think and figured out a way to transport these larger girls safely. So outdoors it is, by the end of this week. Going to wait a few days as night temperatures forecast as low as 5ºC on Thursday and Friday... Will give me time to prep plot.

On way back from meeting a friend I dropped in to visit the Auto Duck girls. They're 40 days old and doing fine, all have grown since last visit. The two larger girls are ready to top. I'll be down again tomorrow and will do that then. Gave them a feed tonight. Amazing how well they're doing given how cold it is just now. Really chilly north east breeze, lots of sun during the day but bloody parky!

Managed to get some plot prep done this evening. Dropped off chicken wire (cut into sections to make cages), tools. It's a better spot than the one I lost as it gets more sun. In the middle of some gorse bushes, the soil is stony but seems okay. Gorse, lupins, brambles, nettles and trees growing in it so can't be too bad. Nearly ready to plant up.

Ah, a new spot and more plants! Excellent. How far do you have between the two different grow spots? Is it easy to visit both in one trip?
All my plots so far are quite close to each other, as in 10-15 minutes' bike ride. Far enough away not to be too close though...
I have four separate sites at the moment, and will be adding a fifth soon for photoperiod plants. Once that's all done I plan to do a bit of "adventure planting" further afield, in a "plant and forget" style...
Checked on the veg cab and gave all the girls a feed a half strength. Day 43 for the autos, most of which are in flower. They haven't even seen a drop of sunlight yet... Only the semi-autos are holding on in veg. Week 4 for the photo seedlings, which get bigger and bushier by the day.
Seems a shame to put these gorgeous flowering girls out to fend for themselves, but that's what going to happen as I have other plans for the tents and this veg cab. I suppose we'll find out how flowering autos handle transplant shock and cold nights!

Did a water run along the railway plots this evening. It's been 11 days since the plants were last watered, so about time.
They are all doing fine considering how dry it's been, and some cold nights too. No sign of flowering at all, such a contrast to the veg cab.
The Soviet Finland autos haven't grown that much, the RK62s show the most progress, the Short Term Amnesia have grown a bit too. I expect the coming week might see a bit more progress. When I planted them out, I forgot to bring chicken wire to make cages, but only one plant has suffered damage. So although I brought chicken wire this visit I didn't bother putting it up. The planters are bit more stealthy without it. As I say, one STA has effectively been topped, I suspect foxes or maybe a cat. Foxes more likely as I hear their alarm calls every visit, and I saw a family group go past me on the very first visit. The wee plant is still alive, we'll see how it gets on.
Further along the line, the 8 girls are doing just great. A couple of cages had come loose and were lying behind the plants. I suspect a gust of wind, or foxes. No damage to the plants. It's possible this was the result of a human visitor, but as the granite chippings make using pegs impossible, I think a strong gust is more likely. Some plants are getting quite tall now, the Mandarin Panties Auto, the Nightmare and Fast Serious 6 Glue are all the same height as the cages now, 60cm / 2 feet. The others are not so tall, but all have grown.
So, good progress since the last visit. No rain forecast for at least 12 days, so might need another water run in 10 days or so...
