Does a cloudy day, but with sunlight, beat a day under a 250w CFL?

Have a good day guys!

Here is a picture so you can see how i hang my light up. I can´t use a reflector, but my walls are painted with flat white paint. So they are a little reflective.

Thanks guys.

I doan't get that first sentence,a cloudy day but with sunshine.

Short answer.. I believe it'll do better under the CFL than cloudy-day sunlight. I've asked the same question myself before now and a physicist on another forum showed me (with way too complex maths) that the CFL would win hands down.

Edit.. although if you want to get the most out of that CFL turn it horizontally. :)

I think he means partly cloudy, namvet. Gah, man, splittin' hairs over here...this guy... lol :buds:

But hey, I second that. That big ol' cfl is better than the not so sunlight cloudy-ish weather. And turn that beast sidesways so it'll give more light. This has all been said I am just seconding it. Hope we helped.

I know. I want to turn it horisontally, but i don´t know how i should do it? Can i hang it up with steelwire or something?

Yep. If you look at the end of the bulb you can see this little glass bits connecting the tubes, and you can run cable ties or string around those to hang it. Then, add wire/cable/string to the ceramic E40 connector at the end of the cable, and you're good to go.

With cfls you can build a cheapo reflector out of anything. Grab a piece of cardboard, paint one side white, fold it and find a simple way to attach it to the light. Also like everyone said turning it horizontal at this point will cast more light on the pants. Once they get bigger you can hang that bulb in the middle of the plants vertically so they catch all the light it's throwing off. Lots of options. Try and get a little fan blowing on those seedlings if you haven't already, the air movement helps strengthen them and provides the fresh air they need.

And make sure when you use that paper reflector make sure you have a fire extingwisher close buy. For around two bucks go out and buy one of those throw away turkey roasting pans and wire it to that.

Thanks for your posts guys. I am going to try to tie up the bulb up today. I am a little worried that the bulb can break when i hang it. Am i really going to hang it in the bulbs or should i hang it under the whole bulb?
