New Grower Chiefs 1st grow - Northern Lights and Ultraviolet

Day 6

Gave both seedlings a little under 1oz of water. And the UV is really starting to take off...I can see a huge difference between yesterday and today.

I'm also curious to know about how much longer until I can start giving them some grow nutes, so if anyone can give me some insight into this I would greatly appreciate it. My only concern is that I don't want to make the mistake of starting them on the nutes too early and run the risk of burning or stunting them. The grow nutes I'll be using have an NPK of 7-9-5. I would like some input on that as well, because I want to make sure that it's not going to be too hot for them.

:smoke: Chieef- You want your soil to be nice and damp, so it sticks together when you take a nice pinch, but not so wet that it drips extra water when you do this, or looks/feels soggy... the surface moisture will fluctuate more and quicker vs. the core/deeper down, so scope it regularly (see prev. post!).... there's no set amount or schedule to it, it's all as needed. Make sure they're not getting buffeted by fans, or in light/temp hot spots, as these sorts of things cause very rapid drying  no bueno holmes,..... you chose great soils and better still you mixed them, which will 'cool' off the FFOF soil some... as it is now, the soil is well packed with nutrients already for at least 3-4 weeks before you should start adding fert's, and when you do, use 1/4 strength a couple times to ease into it. The plants needs are modest right now compared to later when there's much more biomass to support, so you must keep that nutrient balance in mind; later, at the beginning of budding, you start to transition over to bloom type fert's.... again, right now, no fert's! Something the ladies would like now is Superthrive ; this is a vitamin/hormone supplement that is excellent for both treating shock and a nice little turboboost for the metabolism... and it is the shizzle!!:pimp: We use this stuff extensively at the orchid nursery and at home (boss has used it since the late '60's), and it does without any scientific doubt, make a big difference; it's concentrated as hell, BTW.... (made of vit. B1 and napthyl acetic acid)... trust me on this dude :check: Mix it at about 1/2 tsp per qt., (what I use on all my plants), spray foliage and give the soil a nice drink too when watering regularly, once a week until blooming starts (don't spray on newly forming buds at that point, soil's okay),....I'd quit altogether for the last few weeks or so prior to harvest. They have lots of bottle sizes, 2oz should be plenty for you whole grow and then some; 6-8 bucks, available all over the place (garden centers best price)...(the mixed soln. doesn't keep so use it up within a day or so)... Your fert. numbers look fine,... I sure you've scanned the other grow threads about this! .... for now, let'm be, they're doing fine!

Day 9

I'm so amazed with how fast they are growing.

:dance2:They're rockin' bro'.... past their first week now, you've officially achieved lift-off! :head:

Hey chief! All's well I trust? .... I wanted to let you know I started my grow thread finally, so check it out when you can,... thanks!

So far I've just been giving them distilled water with no nutrients. hopefully I can get a PH meter in a couple of weeks so I can get these babies dialed in.

But overall I think they're still looking pretty good.

What's up Chief? Yes, they're starting to really roll now! Nice work bro' :smokeit: ..... unless your tap water is fierce hard, it's much better to use that than distilled; The CaCO3 (and others) in tap water plays an important roll in buffering pH; purified water lacks this and can lead to pH control prob's.; Just let the tap water sit for a day to get the chlorine to gas out....
